    Yes please, please do not do this again. If you must fill the engine with water (but be bloody careful ... burns are possible) and block of water pipes.

    Water supports the cylinder walls and also piston ring temperature (so I am told) goes through the roof without coolant. Now ofcourse with aircooled engines these things are more robust to my understanding and also have cooling fins and air moving around it (to some degree). Your liner has no air movement at all as it is hidden inside the block.

    I about had to change my boxers! With no brakes sticking, the clutch felt fine, no hoses left unconnected, and it purred with no smoke at idle, I knew something wasn't right. Saw the open boot on the CV joint and I immediately found the culprit.
