They look sooooooo good in black! A bit sleeker and perhaps also a bit sinister.

(Still, I'm glad I own a red one!)

    Augustine,

It's indeed "nero met" colour, although it has been repainted once. I belive it's code 901. Unfortunatelly it's not visible in the paint sticker - don't know what happened there.

"First Run" pics..... More to follow in seperate post in a few days......

Also, I was told to not polish the wheels or apply tire dressing for a month. So the tires are "dry" looking (i.e. almost brown and flat-looking) No shine. So when I get those done, it will really change the appearance....

Oh well. Like I said, "first run" pics.

I don't have a lot of them yet. I wasn't super motivated to take them, as the tires looks like crap (for now). The wheels turned out WELL though.

    Here's the deal......

I have always wanted black wheels. Some of you guys might have remembered my post a few weeks ago about it. I had photoshopped them on and was asking a few opinions.

Well, I have a friend of mine in Iowa who has a 328 GTB that won a platinum last year at the Ferrari Nationals in Indy. Had the highest scoring GTB there in fact. Anyway, he had his wheels re-painted by a guy in Dubuque when they were prepping it for the show. And he scored WELL. Didn't get a single deduction for his wheels. And, as a side note, the judges were saying that his CAR'S paint were "not right, and a shade off" even though his car's paint was 100% original and perfect. My point being, that the wheels did not get ANY deductions and they had been redone.

So, I got to thinking.... If this guy does such good paint work, and I just can't seem to find a set of wheels that look better or more right on a 328 than the stock why not paint them?? And if I don't like them, have him paint them back to "Concours quality".

So I had him paint them for me. He has done a little work on Ferraris but is a REALLY good Hot Rod guy who has won a few National shows. And, I have to say, they look STUNNING. He used the same paint that would match my car and it looks REALLY cool. I will be able to wax and polish them just like I would my car. And also apply the tire dressing to get those tires black and shiny again.

He paints the wheels with the tires ON. Just masks it off carefully. And it looks great. He does this so his "work" isn't scratched when they put the tire back on. Said he had a few times in the past where the tire guy put a scratch on one of the wheels, so he started doing them with the tire on. Makes sense.

He charges only $100 per wheel for his work. Believe me, it is a steal. So, basically, I get to try (or have, if I like them) black wheels on my car that are a correct fit, etc. for $400. A bargain, IMO.

I am reserving true judgement on them until I get the tires cleaned up and get the wheels waxed. But I can tell you, my preliminary feelings are that I am VERY pleased with the look. The car looks SO aggressive!!! It is EXACTLY what I was looking for and I love it!!

More pics to come. Probably tomorrow.....

Sounds like a great deal to me! I am really looking forward to seeing some better pictures as this is something I am going to consider if I get another black one. I would actually like to get an extra set of factory wheel with tires and have them painted black so that I can swap them whenever I'm in the mood. That would be awesome!
    :)

I have an event I will be at this summer where a few friends of mine will be there with THEIR "black with black wheels" cars. I will be taking pics of those for SURE!!

We will have a group pic with

    My 328
    NSX
    Lotus Exige
    Ford GT

All black with black wheels. Should be a cool pic!!!

Yeah, for the price, you can't beat it. I drove them down to Dubuque to get them done and am pleased.

I also need to point out that I hadn't driven the car yet. It had sat all week up on blocks so the shocks expanded a tad. I had yet to drive it so it hadn't "settled" yet. This pic was fresh off the blocks. So it will sit lower after driving it, which will make it look even better obviously.........

    Augustine,

You have a lovely car. Sometimes I'd prefer mine as GTS for summer rides.
Maybe one day I'll cut the roof!!!! Just kiding.
