Bi-Polar

Bill you ever need ANYTHING just shoot me a line. The good thing is that at least you know about, and seem like you have a grasp and understanding of what you are suffering and dealing with IMHO.

Several of my old roommates had diagnosed bi-polar of varying degrees. One was mild and unmedicated, his symptoms were a severe emotional sensitivity - he wouldn't cry, but a compliment sent him to active cloud 9, and any chiding or ridicule sent him into a 4 hour unproductive slump. His locus of control was completely external.

My friend who was severe bipolar was balanced on meds when I knew him, and he was the most placid and patient person I've ever known to this day. He had crazy stories about the time before he got treated and balanced from depression to manic psychosis.

 

My opinion- sounds like you're doing just fine and since we live in the same region, perhaps we will see each other at a meet and I'll let you check out a cool german car.

 

I mostly work with 9-13 year olds. The diagnosis is actually fairly common at this age. Wether or not it's accurate is another story. The symptoms/tendencies are very similar to other forms of mental illness at this age. Texas does not recoginze bi-polar as a disabling condition, everyone is lumped under "emotionally disturbed".

 

Hey Billy, you sound like a great guy and the fact that you had a Lambo makes you tops in my books (should have kept it though).

Regarding Bi-polar, I havnt much experience with the condition, in fact i just learned of it last year, but my mother suffered from her own condition which i wont name. I experienced it in the worst possible way i could have asked for but now, things are just amazing for us and the rest of the family. I really think it helps to talk about these things as I know it did with her.

That sounds about like me, no meds for me i just am able to tuff it out at this severity.

Any insight on how a person with BP disorder would interact with their family? I was seeing a girl a little while back who was on meds for it, and said she had been diagnosed. A LOT of this stuff seems to be inline with what I saw and experienced. Her around her parents...forget it...WWIII. But she had a younger brother who she seemed to be very fond of in a very normal way.

Needless to say, we didn't last. And that's OK I guess. Even day to day, it was tough. I wasn't sure if she was really like that or just a drama queen.

 

I had a friend on high school who was bi-polar. She would go from crying about everything in the morning, to hyper in the afternoon. She never tried to kill herself but it wasnt fun.
