Actually I read an interesting article with one of the engine designers and the guy admitted that the best way for 2006 would have been to simply detune last year's V10. Of course if you want to compete past 2006 you better get started on the V8 bandwaggon.

The V10 idea was originally only left in place to help money stricken Minardi (Impy, are you reading this?). Nobody had an issue with it as Minardi always is last V8 or V10. But now with new Red Bull cash this could suddenly backfire and a detuned V10 might turn out to be a pretty sharp weapon.

Wait until next week...the 248F1 will make it's debut with the new full aero package. Should bring the times down even further.

They're only running the F2004 for tire testing purposes. There's no sense comparing the 248F1 with the F2004, since they both have different aero packages...with the F2004 heavily favored.

These are the times for 248 with the real V8, not "simulated"

wow that's unreal. Good for them! Makes you appreciate why the FiA want's to keep the engineers in-check, every year or so. If not, we'd have 5000HP V12 engines revving at 30,000 RPM... hahahahah
