From post #64 here: has anyone else noticed how the sail panel beside the back window is actually open? It is a sort of 'Flying Buttress' effect with a open space between the back window and the sail panel. The light here actually shines through the bodywork in this view from the rear of the car. It also has 4 'proper' lights in this view... Was Frank looking at old Maserati models??

The first picture in post #61 also shows the large 'gap' between the back window and the fake sail panels coming off the rear of the roof line...

See the link on post #117. The flying buttresses are functional. They're shaped to direct airflow over the tail.

Hi thanks Willis, very informative link at post #117. I see their thinking on that. It indicates they are made out of carbon fibre but on the yellow GTB they look like unfinished metal... Thanks.

I think the difference is that an F40 "Feels" fast even when going slow, the newer cars "Feel" slow when they are going fast. Know what I mean? For example, when I'm driving the GT4 you hear the carbs, the whirls, the exhaust, it "Feels" very fast, but it's not really fast anymore compared to what is out there...I'd rather have that sensation all the time though because I can't drive a car at 200 mph around town. The sensation is more valuable than the top speed. IMHO.

The Star of David is no Pentagram, and the 599 wheels are Pentagrams.

A true Pentagram needs to have a OPEN center, the wheels do not.

Actually I kinda like the wheels lol....more then the Challenge wheels.

Well, they look as close to a pentagram, as rims could (having to need a closed center to actually be attached to the rest of the car).

I for one think the 599 is sexy. It's interesting getting peoples differing opinions on what they think constitutes good design vs. poor design. For instance I think the Zonda looks like carbon fibre door stop but a lot of people think it's the sexiest thing ever put on 4 wheels. I wonder how many that like the Zonda approve of the 599? To each his own I guess.

Can't fit two golf bags in a F40, hell, ya can barly fit a golf tee in there if you have a passenger. :)

I'm warming up to the 599. But final judgement comes when I see it in person.

I've liked the Zonda since it came out.

Give the 599 a bit of time and people will like it. You guys should check out the comments about the 360 on this site 5 years ago.

I know. I remember the 360 being ripped to shreds, now most consider it a classic design.

The Zonda F is a tremendous improvement over the first Zondas. He/they smoothed the shape and improved the proportions but its profile still doesn't quite mesh.

I had a pic of a Zonda beside an Enzo and the difference was startling. The Enzo was more complex and better proportioned. There's a reason Pininfarina is Pininfarina.

    Forza,

I wonder about the side vent positions on the 599. Would it not dump hot air from the engine into open windows?
