Bidding ended at 47800 and he relisted the car. I would think that the seller would be happy at that price, considering the history and that it needs 7K worth of work. I've e-mailed him about the history.

Sounds like this guy wants a lot more than what was finally bid. My guess is that he wants something in the mid to high 60's. Most people who sell their low miles cars have that same belief.

If you are looking for a nice clean car to drive and enjoy, you don't need to look for a low milage car. If well taken car of, you could find a nice car with higher miles as much as one with lower miles.

I bought mine with 34,500 miles on it and although the interior wasn't perfect, the exterior was nice and it ran well. Cosmestics can be fixed. I'm restoring my interior with Leatherique and re-dying the carpet, seats, and door panels. It will make it original and look as good as new.

I guess it all depends on how much work you want to put into it. You can pay a premium for the pristine look, or spend a lot less and do it yourself. I personally like spending the time on my car to get it to 'new' condition.

    The choice is yours.

    MJ - Leatherque?

I don't mind putting a lttle work in the car - but I do want one with good history and mechanicals and would pay up for it. I plan on keeping the car like I do most of mine, drive it around 2K a year (I do live in Chicago!) and feel it wouldnt lose much in value (maybe even appreciate?)

There are various threads here on Leatherique (www.leatherique.com). It's a treatment for leather (seats, door panels, etc.) that softens the leather and keeps it from drying up. They also sell leather dye, which I am using to refinish my seats and door panels. The carpet on my car (black) was faded so I got carpet dye as well. It's not taking too long to do this and like I said earlier, the interior is going to look good as new.

If you want some tips on car care or simple restoration, check out the Ferrari Club of America's website (www.fca-se.org). They offer some pretty good suggests on detailing your car inside and out.

I agree that a good history, mechanical records, etc are needed. Mine had that. The only reason I settled on a car whose interior wasn't perfect was that I wanted a black / black 328 GTS, which is hard to find. Not many out there to choose from.

If you want a Red / Tan or other popular combination, you should have an easier time finding one in very good condition. I was limited in my selection.

    Good luck.

328's clutches came poorly adjusted from the factory. If not properly adjusted initially they will take a few adjustments and need to be replaced prematuraly. Also, if your in the vicinity for regular maintenance you couold do some extra PM and swap out the clutch while the car is already opened up. the parts are failry cheap compared to the labor. If you have already paid for the labor then change your poorly adjusted clutch and you have one less thing to worry about.
