Did some insane true enthusiast buy OLN or something? That is all I can think of while I watch coverage of the A1GP that is on right now on OLN. OLN has also had the Dakar coverage and WRC. What is up with this? Is OLN the place to turn now for the true motorsports that speedvision used to have? I am sure there are tons of Mountain Bike riders that are throwing a fit right now seeing motorsports on OLN but how wierd is it to see the true motorsport events shown on OLN now. I am seriously blown away. I understood how Dakar could have something to do with OLN but the A1GP is just a pure motorsport thing. There must be some ferrari nut or formula 1 guy that bought the network. This is so cool. Gotta check the OLN schedule now.

A1GP Will also be on again tommorow. Go to OLNTV.com to check the schedule. There are alot of random shows but if you weed them out you can find the Dakar, WRC and A1GP coverage slipped in to certain places. Who knows what else they have hidden on the network.

I caught the A1GP as well this evening in Indonesia, a rather nice circuit. I set my DVR to record series this year.

Their web page leaves much to be desired. I got better OLN listings from the A1GP page than from OLN's.

Today, I can't find any reference to either A1GP or WRC on OLN's web site.

I was just on the OLN site and it's alright! I've signed up for email alerts for the remainder of the A1 GP races (when you click on the date it even give a bit of info about the track), Tour de France '06 route announcement, Giro d Italia and many other cycling events, America's Cup, Dakar (have to wait for next year), road racing, equestrian events, dog shows, the list is quite lengthy under the heading of action sports.

I went to: www.olntv.com then selected action sports - BUT I registered and now can log-in to get this information - took me all of 2 minutes most to register to log in.

A1 GP coverage is as follows: (times est)

    2/26 - 6-8 pm Monterrey
    2/27 - 3-5 pm Monterrey
    3/12 - 7-9 pm Laguna Seca
    3/13 - 3-5 pm Laguna Seca

We're on Direct TV here - OLN for us is channel 608 - ironically one channel down from Speed which is 607 - you can go to the program guide and see what's on both at the same time. Our scout is also set for specific racing venues.

Okay, that's the page I'd seen before: The "ww2" part of the earlier url leads to the tv schedule page that doesn't seem to work ... at least, if you're not logged in.

As for "registering" -- if they're running commercials, then they should want people to know what's playing. They shouldn't be requiring phishing data to tell people what's on.

But that's a trend among most cable channels, these days: The web operation is trying to get people to "register" or even "subscribe" before releasing schedule information -- often in ad-bloated PDF files.

That's like snail-mailing junk mail with postage due.
