    From my small amount of research it seems that the radar jammers just don't work. I read about one that did once you got within 8-10 feet of the radar gun. There are two types, Passive and Active. The Active ones I think are the ones that actually work but are not legal. I think for them to actually work they would be screwing up so much stuff around town as you drive that would cause problems. That is probably why they are not legal. FCC regulates them and they would not be able to interfere with different things out there.

    Lidar or laser jammers are legal. They use IR light and are therefore regulated by the FDA IIRC. There is no federal legislation concerning them from what I remember. Again from my other post when I was looking into them only some models work with some guns. There was one brand that jammed a wider range of frequencies than others. I'll go through my old bookmarks and see if I can find it.

    I dont think any will plug into the V1. You would have to wire them up seperately. They will need to be mounted and leveled per the manufacturers instructions in order to work properly. You may want to seek out a shop that has experience with them.

    Personally, I have had no experience withe the V1, but I have had plenty of experience with the K-40----Don't waste your money on one of them. I had a Viper that came with a K-40 and I have a Ferrari that has one in it. I keep it turned off most of the time. Too many false alerts and it is just NOISEY, like a magpie on a fence.

    I just got a V1 and man are they sensitive, but its the best! I just wish I could here when it goes off when I have the radio turned up.

    My question is, since Ill keep the V1, is there any radar jammers that really work (I dont care if its illegal) that I can get and hook up too (hidden or coarse)? Ill pay whatever it takes!

    No info on jammer, but if you haven't already, experinment with the two filter modes on the V1, I use the "Little L" -- fewer alerts in "downtown" areas, but still senstive and it is very clear which are false and which are legit alerts.

    The way an active jammer works, from the little I understand of it, it would be messing up so much stuff as you drive aroung I think it would eventually draw a lot of unwanted attention your way. You would be breaking federal law to own or use one and it is a felony i believe.

    Surprise surprise. Radar jammers mess with air traffic and like removing a stop sign could result in innocent people being injured. Laser is the future of speed enforcement and jamming is not illegal (yet) in many states.

    Califeloney made a blanket statute that "any" device that interferes with speed measuring devices is unlawful.

    But it says nothing about a vehicle surface coating that prohibits the signal of a speed measuring device to return to the revenue jerk operating it. :D

    Don't bother.....I just makes you a worse driver. Dependent on a detector and not your own eyes and common sense.... Besides your chances of getting a ticket are still high even with that piece of plastic mounted on your windshield, and you can forget about a warning....And you could get many tickets to equal the price of a V1....Hell I went to court for going 120mph and got a fine less then the price of the V1! So in conclusion :)

    The V1 hasn't changed in like 10yrs, same unit, everything, the V1 is so old, I and is so big, its so outdated, I don't understand what is so good about it, I was getting ready to buy one and noticed it hasn't changed in years!

    My Bel rules! and after seing one comparison the Bel picks up radar at 2.2 miles where the V-1 only does it in 1.3. I really like my Bel but I have heard so much about the V-1 that it would be fun to buy one and try it right next to the Bel. Thats the only way I will convince myself.

    o.k.? So how come the radar (Laser?) does not interfere with
    air traffic etc. but the jammer does? Please explain.

    Does the V1 have a way to back off the sensitivity? I have escort 8500 X50, friends have V1, and we chat via CB, and the V1 goes off CONSTANTLY, whereas the 8500 only goes off with real (nearby) threats. Ok, maybe theres a cop out there 5 miles away on another road, but I don't need to know that. I know the V1 is prefered by most around here, but IMO the escort seems very practical in that is doesn't go off every 15 seconds. I already have one of those, its called a passenger.

    Laser jammer uses IR light not radio waves. The IR light match the laser signal and confuse the laser gun.

    Oh, I'm sorry. I misread your question.

    I really don't know. Maybe because radar can be lower level to get your speed but in order to jam it the jammer its signal has to be much more powerful.

    The V1 has been around since 1992 and it has changed cosmetically and internally many times a year but they mantain the same appearance so people will always know what their V1 is telling them.

    Everbody tries to bash the Valentine One because it is supposedly so big and so bulky. As hard as it might be to believe, the Valentine One, 16.2 cu. in., is smaller than the Escort X50, 18.95 cu. in., and the Bel RX65, 16.32 cu. in. The Valentine One is wider because it has 2 antennas and not 1 like every other radar detector, but it is shorter in length and not as tall which gives you more mounting options.

    As far as weight goes,

    Valentine One -> 181.5g (6.40 ounces)
    Escort 8500 X50 -> 253.7g (8.95 ounces)
    Beltronics RX65 Pro -> 236.6g (8.35 ounces)
    Beltronics STi Driver -> 291.6g ( 10.29 ounces)

    As you can see, the 8500 X50 is the largest in size, the Bel STi Driver is the heaviest with the 8500 X50 being second heaviest. The Valentine One is the smallest and lightest radar detector of the Top 4 radar detectors made today so try to learn the facts before you bash the best.

    Yes, there are three "logic" levels on the V-1 which alter the sensitivity. In "all bogeys" mode you get the longest range, but most false alarms. I use this on rural Interstates.

    In the "full logic" mode you get far fewer false alarms, but a very, very strong X-band will still break through. You can turn off X band alarms altogether if your local Revenue Enhancement Officials don't use it... this is where the vast majority of falses come from.

    The software in the units has changed a lot through the years. I still have a first generation model. Compared to the later generations (my newest is still a few years old) the sensitivity is similar, but the logic circuits are much better in the newer one resulting in fewer falses.

    This is incorrect and it appears you have not seen a new V1 in the last four years. They have slimmed it down and yes, the firmware is updated from year to year.

    No, I am not a sponsor for Valentine but I have quite a bit of knowledge in this area. The one thing I do know is that I have been using a Valentine One since 1992 and it is the best in radar and laser detection hands down.
