I'll be surprised if the driver(s) were local to the area. Having lived out here for many years, that section of PCH is fine for top speed runs, although not ideal even under summer conditions.

Considering it was 6am on a February morning after a weekend of heavy rains, this one of the last places you want to be doing top speed passes. The road condition are highly irregular with the seaside climate, dew, fog, mudslides etc. One would assume anyone familar with Malibu wouldn't be making top speed knowing how messy the roads get this time year.

(This of couse all assumes that that speed was the key factor in the crash...there is also still the possibility that the accident was caused by something beyond the drivers control...another swerving car(e.g. Ma' Spears with baby in lap while driving), wildlife in the road(e.g. Gary Busey), mechanical failure etc. All of which we don't know at this point)

Cody, is Loren Liebel's son, and loren lives in Toronto, Canada, but also has a house in BH. Since it's winter up in Canada, im sure the car is down there in BH, and wouldn't be surprised if that's his. It has to be.
By the way, the intrerior of the crashed enzo is RED, the backings of the seats are black...

Or, the drive could have been coked-out-of-his-gord and doing a hudred and a half and hooked his Enzo up with the utility-pole mod...

Southern California section has 4 pages so far. Here's the latest that I've read.

Ferrari Crashes, Closes Part Of P.C.H.
Save It Email It Print It
(CBS) MALIBU, Calif. A section of Pacific Coast Highway was closed Tuesday after a single-vehicle car crash, officials said.

Paramedics were sent to P.C.H. at Decker Road at 6:15 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Ron Haralson said.

By 8:35 a.m., one lane was reopened in each direction, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos.

The vehicle, a Ferrari -- reportedly worth between $600,000 and $1 million -- was badly damaged. One person suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

"We have the passenger, who told us the driver did flee from the scene," Sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks said. "And we ... followed some footprints up the side of the hill in an effort to locate the driver."

Authorities believe the Ferrari, which broke in half, "was traveling at least 100 mph and it will probably be a lot more than that once we conclude our investigation," Brooks said.

“For a million dollars, you get a very good passenger-safety system, and apparently in this case it did work," he added.

Some electrical service in the area was interrupted because the car struck a power pole.

You're now my new best friend (until I've drained all of your information:D)...

Just spoke with Fox 11 out in Los Angeles... They, apparently, don't yet know who the driver is and "...are still trying to locate him/her"...

OK, we've all seen photos of the front half of cars, like 55 Chevys, hanging from someone's wall into their living room. How much you wanta bet someone in the Hollywood Hills is waiting to do that with this Enzo right now?

Hey, I know that Sheriff, it's Mark Wynn. I usually see him in Malibu at a coffee house on Sunday mornings. I'll see what info I can get from him.

I'm also thinking someone should buy the front half, splice a VW Beetle/Porsche 917 kitcar rearend onto the back and wow 'em at the kit car shows with it.

There are a LOT of red Enzos in California - far too many to start assuming it was one person or another without sufficient corroborating evidence...

The seats still look black to me - how about someone getting ahold of James in Canada - he knows the Liebel family and would be able to let us know if it was Cody or not... The more we narrow this down, the easier it will be to figure out who it was and the less "libeling" we'll do... :)

    haaahhaaa....what a kneeslapper.

I agree with you, the seats are definitely black, look at the comparison above. There's no red shown, and the seat contour is clearly outlined....can't be cody's car.

just got a call from a reporter from the Daily News...he wishes to talk to Fcar owners about this accident....just asked me questions about the car....i had no comments about the accident, who/what/how, and i dont wish to speculate...other than i was impressed with the technology that saved the lives of the driver/pass..glad no one else was hurt........if you wish to talk to him, his name is Josh at Daily News...
    818-713-3669

I told him i hoped that his article would not color the owners of these cars in a bad way...accidents happen every day....and who knows what happened....
