    Yeah, it was...

So who's gonna go get VIN pictures...? I can't pay much, but I'll still cough up some cash...

I don't know if this was already mentioned, but it looks like that pole was completely snapped off and flipped over from the hit.

    LOL, I was thinking $20-$30...!

For a flight, hotel and rental car, I would want you to send me, first class, every piece you could possibly steal from the wreckage, and that would include matricola plate, assembly number plate, shields, wheel center caps, owners manual, etc. :D

A friend of mine owns a very reputable bodyshop that does a lot of work on Ferraris, and I was told by his top bodyman, just conversing one day, that Ferrari has began requiring VIN numbers for all part orders. The reason behind this is that they do not want there to be rebuilt F-car's driving around that will not be 100% safe. On certain cars they are even requiring pictures.

If the car is damaged bad enough (as this one most certainly is) ferrari will not allow dealers to order parts for it.

That engine should find a good donor car so it can breathe again.

The owner of this Enzo's next mid engined car purchase should be a Fiero. :p

    Dont forget the toolkit!

Do you think in 40 years time guys on the internet will be debating how the car was rebuilt after it was supposed to go to a scrap yard :D........and no doubt there would be one person who would refuse to belive it was the same car

Read most of this thread last night and now this morning.

    I'm amazed by 2 things..

    1. GOOD..... Positive and quick investigative work by those who really know something.

    2. BAD.... Wild and unfounded speculation. Where do people come up with this stuff and how are they comfortable airing it on a public forum?

Overall I have no concern for either the driver or the car (even being a Ferrari owner). My concern is the manner in which people like this give little or no concern to your's and my safety on public roads. Luckily, this case the only things "lost" were a car, a pole and possibly a mysterious German.

That being said any number of other things could have occured. He could have wiped out a van load of kids on their way to school, some guy just trying to make his morning commute, bikers, joggers, etc.

I'm personally glad and think it's lucky that the only thing destroyed was an Enzo...

heard it on the news lastnight (channel 2,4 or 7 i forgot), one of the reporters said that even the Enzo was wrecked, the remains still worth about $250,000.00

if so, that's a brand new F430 right there

Sorry to say this but your friend is wrong!

I've never been asked for a chassis number for body parts, occasionally to identify the correct bits but never to be able to actually order body or chassis parts, if they’ve got em in stock you can buy them!

I have only heard the VIN requirement for 288GTO parts, no other car. The reason probably that they have only a very limited supply of NOS parts and don't want to feed the replica/rebody market with them.

And then it's only to stop people from making replicas with real parts!

I'm amazed they got the count right with 400. Most people still repeat 399.

Who are some of these so called experts they get quotes from?

The Ferrari community is devastated by the loss of an Enzo?

Sorry don't think so, the Enzo is ugly and it doesn't look any worse in 1000s of pieces or together who cares. If it were a beautiful Ferrari it would be a different story.

The drivers airbag had blood on it, sounds like the owner could be facing charges of giving false info to police officers as well, unless the mysterious German shows up somewhere.

Yes I am so devastated, I will be in mourning for a week burning many Rossa Corsa candles.

But aren't you worried about catching matricolitis?
