I still think Cody Leibel had something to do with this crash. Maybe he was driving the SLR with Tara Reid and Paris Hilton stuffed inside. One of them probably bumped the steering wheel while trying to do a line of coke off the dashboard.

According to the witnesses, this Enzo was racing a Mercedes McLaren SLR... And that this Mr Eriksson owns both an Enzo AND an SLR...

I am seriously thinking that he was alone in the Enzo, and that "The German" Dietrich was driving HIS SLR...

    Think about it...
No trace of the one who was driving the Enzo.
Mr Eriksson only says his surname (or nickname? Mr Dietrich), i read somewhere he didn't knew him before he let him drive his beast.........

How can you allow someone you don't know to drive your Enzo?
And why no witnesses can tell the plate number of the SLR?
The Merc is almost as exotic as the Enzo, it doesn't go away unnoticed...

If it is his blood on the airbag and his lip is bleeding then how could this have happened while he was the passenger, unless he had is lip in Dieter’s lap. Not a pretty picture. He would get the kiss of death from the Swedish Mafia if he plays it that way. (I am assuming the Swedish Mafia is not gay tolerant. However, as he is a member of the Swedish Mafia and not the Italian Mafia, I may be incorrect in this assumption and if so I apologize to the Swedish Mafia for accusing them of intolerance to gays) However, if my assumptions concerning the Swedish Mafia are correct, he will be forced to admit that he was the driver and not the passenger. He will then be forced to admit that he was drinking, as no self respecting Enzo owner would dare face the Ferrari Mafia and the ensuing humiliation resulting from being beat by a Mercedes SLR while he was sober. The man has run out of options. He has to admit he was drunk and driving.

He stopped on a dime; unfortunately, the dime was in Mr. Racoco’s pocket – Firesign Theater

One of the dumbest reasons ever given after a car wreck bytheway was when the Swede said they were racing to see which was faster.... um Merc Slr vs. Enzo.. open up a damn Road Track.. Where drivers way more qualified then you have extensively tested them... save the cars. lol

For all we know, there could be others right here on this board who got their Ferrari money through shady means. This is a big community, and like any community, not everybody is on the "up and up".
And I also wonder how many "bad boy" Ferrari drivers actually have their cars registered in their wife's name, or their kid's names, or their mommie's name so they can avoid "paying the piper" in some way or another.

At our local autocross board, one of the guys was the last car the Enzo passed before crashing. Everything happened in front of his eyes and he said there was no SLR there (no second car at all). Here is what the guy posted yesterday soon after the accident:

"Be careful out there. I was the last one he passed before he lost it. Horrible doesn't do it justice. Those are the luckiest people in the world today just to be alive. How he missed me I still don't know. He was VERY fast and out of control when he passed me on a rise, and his rear tires were in the air at that time. He skidded forever, then took out a power pole and disappeared in a fireball. Stopped another quarter mile down the road. At least the front end stopped there. The engine left the car at the pole. Talk about shock and awe.....

    > 'They say he was racing an SLR?'

I never saw anyone else, don't think he was racing anyone.
Tell you what, though. The shock wave when he went by me rocked the Expedition hard. I was still shaking a half hour later, and it wasn't the cold..

I stopped just short of a fireball 4 lanes wide and 20 feet tall. He wound up about a quarter mile further down the road.
I was only doing about 50; he was going a little faster..

Just saw that the owner, who stuck around, had a .09 BAC. Oops.

Pics from the Ferrari site: (post #5 in this thread)

You see that little rise way off on the horizon in the fifth photo down? That's where he passed me in the #2 lane heading back towards the camera. He was already out of control there, and then hit the pole and cut the car in half. You slide a loooong way when you traveling fast... "

I'm sure the cops would like to verify this story. I'd like to see POS driver get nailed. Gives the rest a bad name.

Horsefly, Dietrich sez he swerved to avoid a black dog just like the one in your photo. Was your dog out whizzing in Malibu again??

    is this true?

Sheriff’s investigators identified the owner as Stefan Ericksson, 44, of Bel Air, who escaped the wreck with only a cut lip.

    found it on MSN-news
