I like the one where the kid says "You know, it's really hard to hear the sound of the engine with all your yacking" to his girlfreind!
I like the new GTI but the ride height on them is utterly ridiculous. They ride 1.5" higher than the ROW. I test drove one on Monday and the salesman said they have been inundated with requests for "Fast" figures. Funny how certain ad campaigns resonate with people.
The US Spec GTI is, in fact 15mm higher than a Euro Spec car. I guess it has something to do with having to comply with the dumb 5mph bumper requirements...
It is a good ad campain. The one where he gets pulled over, tells the kid to take control over his "fast", gets back in his car and his "fast" is sitting there w/ the cop sunglasses on.
The "Unpimp Your Ride" is the best car commercial I've seen in a long time. It's absolutely funny. By the way, I'm selling a very nice black/black 5spd. '01 GTI VR6 (wife's car). Koni struts, Eibach springs, Neuspeed bits, Konig wheels, Cross drilled rotors, chip, bike/ski rack 78k miles etc. etc. $14,500 obo
Great commerials. Honestly has me thinking twice about a GTI. Still a little plump for my tastes but a great car none the less. Top Gear tested one and mentioned the diff in ride hight from US to Euro cars. Clarkson said he had driven both and the Euro was much better planted. My advice: drop it to Euro spec.
I think in a few months, when I get mine, I'll definately be dropping it to Euro spec, at least the suspension, maybe other things... The only thing i dont like is I wish they had all black cloth, that you could get w/o the $3200 leather/sat radio option...
I like the commercial where he tells his wife that she cant get into the car because he doesnt want the extra weight. I wonder how long he slept on the couch.
I sat in one a few weeks ago and was really dissapointed by the driving position. The seat was rediculously (sp?) low and i found myself reaching up to hold the steering wheel. It was really quite strange. I couldn't work out why they did it like that.
