    Guys,

    02, 360 Modena, 6 speed manual.

Is there any way to tell on a manual trans. how much the clutch is worn ???
Any indications while driving ??? Can the SD2 unit detect clutch wear on a manual transm. ??? Thanks !!!

Is this true for F-1's also, or just 6-speed manual ?

There are a variety of holes in the bell housing but even when you get a good direct look at the edge of the disc the actual difference between a brand new one and a worn out one is very small making eyeballing it almost impossible unless you have either seen many many of them for points of reference or you have a known worn out or brand new one to compare.

Just do it the way we always have, drive it until it is worn out and have a new one installed. Prior to the much maligned F1 we couldn't do it any other way and everyone was alright with that.

I've been told to have car in 5th gear at 3500RPM's and push accelerator to the floor. If clutch is shot there will be slippage with a substantial decrease in acceleration.

Another easier way is to pull the parkbrake on hard and put the car in 4th gear and slowly let out the clutch with around 2000RPM. If there is any sustantial wear in the clutch, the car will try to drive through the parkbrake. If the clutch is ok,the car will stall on you. And easy method we use to check suspicous worn clutches. :)
