Yes, because his Ferrari was a POS. That doesnt make it the benchmark. It made it the benchmark in the 60's, since in my opinion, from the beginning of Lamborghini, it has outshown everyone, including Ferrari, making it the benchmark.

My posts in this thread were not meant to be derogatory toward Lambos at all. Please don't take it as one Ferrari owner bashing on another marque. I happen to like Lambo as well as Ferrari. To me, it's great that Lambo's one-upmanship produced many exciting and wild cars.

 

the 599 will still be several, up to 500lbs, lighter than the murci....this is more important than total hp, but everyone is fixated on hp...keep in mind that the aerial atom , with 200 hp will do 0-60 in 3.2 seconds!!!!..plus, i believe an all new murci will come out in the next 2 years, with up to 680hp!!!! now that is smoking!!!!!

 

Those soccer moms are going to look hot in the new Lambo SUV with 3 little kids in the back.It will be fun when they show up at the Lambo events as well and participate in the drives.

They can also pull out the magazine articles comparing the Lambo SUV to the Escalade, Toureg, Explorer and such as to which is faster than the other soccer mom mobiles.

Its gonna change the perception of what a Lambo is when the owners mention to someone they have one, they'll think SUV as their will be so many of them around vs the other models.

The lastone was more of a truck and very high maintenance with the V12, not a womans or soccer moms car, this new one is just like any other high end SUV and civilized, it will sell well to those who would never consider a Lambo before. Especially with the platform sharing this SUV will do with Audi adding the perception of more reliability, much like the Cayenne and Toureg.

 

The same thing can be said then when Lamborghini is beaten by the next Ferrari after the 599.

That's funny... Because I thought when you one-up the best, you become the benchmark? And then I guess Ferrari doesn't try to one-up Lamborghini? Getting one over the opposition is what competition is all about, and that's what "progress" is.

Good Lord, Ferrari vs. Lamborghini talk really bores me to tears... People that are blindly devoted to one marque are only cheating themselves. I love 'em all.

 

Ferrari doesn't one-up lambo because they aren't one-upers. They are benchmark setters. Besides, when lambo always one-ups ferrari, we all know that the ferrari is the better car anyway, so there is no need to one-up them. It's really simple.

 

I'm not going to bother finding the quote, but I believe at the time Clarkson said that the Gallardo was "the better car" in comparison with the 360. The the F430 comes out, and he loves that. Then the SE comes out, and people say it's amazing, but it's DIFFERENT. I guess something else will come out, and that will be better. And then something else will come out, and that will be better. I think I see a pattern emerging here...

There's nothing except good engineering beind cars, and Ferrari aren't actually magicians. At some point, they will be beaten. And then someone will beat whoever beat them. And my god, doesn't anyone ever get tired of the crap-slinging between marques? Grow up.

I didn't say that ferrari doesn't look at other cars, that would be very stupid on ferrari's part. They don't just make an amazing car to be better than lambo, they do it because they just make amazing cars. Lambo also makes very cool cars, I just don't think they are even close to Ferrari.

My God. A simple discussion about Ferrari vs. Lambos (and an openly stated OPINION thread no less) has gotten everyone's egos all in an uproar. What a joke. Have you all read this again? Put your insecure little p*ssing war into perspective. You are talking about truly elite machines here... either marque. Honestly, I think they make each other better by using the new models to drive the engineering that makes the other one better... and so on. I have personally had both and am enchanted by either. So for the sake of constructive conversation - quit being so defensive and get over the "Ferrari is the best and always will be" mentality. We understand that everyone is partial to what they own (or want to own) - that's why they bought it in the first place. Now grow up and play nice or I'm telling Mom!

Since you are quoting Jeremy, I guess Ferrari was considerably outdone, as he choose to purchase a Ford GT over a 360 or 430.

Personally id go with his choice also.
