slow ? lol! Ive been on several Ferrari club meets and 355s still grab attention as much as anyone else. Not only that, Ive seen the very same cars crush m3s. If your definition of a good car is just speed then thats fine. However, the 355 isnt a poor car by any means. I guarantee my/our CS would give the Gcar a wooping round the track. Especially if I was driving
Who cares. Just let this clown go back to his miserable existence. I can't imagine how insufferable he must be without a keyboard. With what he lacks in class, he makes up for in free time.
I have a couple people with Gallardos im certain would take that bet. Considering far better drivers than you have not been able to pilot a Ferrari 360CS around Nurburgring, or Hockenheim than a Gallardo, youll have your work cut out for you.
Allen, get lost please and go back to lambochat and pester your fellow (if you even really have one which I believe less and less every day...) lambo owners. Yes Lambos are great cars too, but if all you want to do is criticize on fchat, get lost for good you ******! gordon
after owning a 355 spider for 3 years and having driven several examples, i can tell you that there is no way a 355 can really do a 12.9 1/4..more like 13.3 or 13.4...you really need to get the revs up , and fast..if you get suck in the wrong gear you are dead in the water...honda accords will blow by you if you go under 4000rpm........also, as far as the sound, it really need a tubi, with out it the 355 sounds tinny and gutless, ....ferrari gave the 360 a much flatter torq ue curve and more torque, and this gave it more punch down low....
To get back to the original question of how fast is a 355: I've beaten one in my stock A4 Corvette Vert (2003). Sure it sounded good, but that vette is slower than my 2002 Camaro which ran a 13.3@109. So lets sum it up: Ferrari 355<Corvette Vert<Camaro. Interesting isn't it? Now I'm not saying buy a Camaro, but in a straight line the 355 isn't doing so well.
i also owned a 355 spider and 360 spider, and the 360 was a HUGE improvement in everyway...the interior on the 355 was cheap looking to me, esp the gauges, which look like a kit cars, and the horrible ergonomics....you sit almost sideways in the 355 with the pedals way too close for anyone with larger than size 9 feet ...and the steering felt overboosted, the 360 had much better steering feel and handling...and lets not forget the stiffer and lighter chassis on the 360...
Hey Allen just because YOU couldn't run a 12.9 qtr mi. doesn't mean the car can't. I've seen them run it, and yes it WAS a sanctioned 1/4 mi. track.
Allen, I'm not sure if t you are calling me a liar, which I wouldn't suggest, but I have seen a 355 run 12.9s at Carlsbad before they closed. If you can't believe that , I guess that is your problem. But.. the timing lights don't lie.
I had a 355b a few years ago. I would do highway runs with a friend who was driving my '01 m3 and we would be about even with me barely pulling away from him when we past 100mph. Ferrari overstated the hp numbers BIG TIME. One of my friends dynoed his 355GTS which was about 300rwhp. The 355 is not a fast car at all, fun, but not fast. My 360 is a big improvement but is still a little sluggish. I have yet to try a 430 which I hear puts down over 420rwhp, which is pretty impressive.
Well, ive already figured you out. You speak alot of sh*t! My 348 is a 12/91 and it does not have any creaks and shakes or dodgey interior or any of the bullsh*t excuses that you mention about your 355. You obviously had a **** box 355!. So turn it up clown. And the 15 355's that you drove have had dodgey interiors, underpowered and they all creak and rattle too hey??? Too easy man,i believe ya
having read most of this thread,,, Mr GSpyder is a tosser ! it is possible that his 355 was an MR2 copy,,,,, maybe you and your car both had charisma bypassess,,, or you just like winding up other genuine fchat users,,, note to everyone ! ignore him,,, he will go away,,,, scottie.
Well regarding Quarter Mile times, as Autoweek which first tested the 355 said in thier article although the car is built more for Road Racing (i.e. canyons) NOT QUARTER MILE TIMES it is definately a very quick car (circa 1995). All the initial tests that were done on the 355 were Berlinetta Models (which were about 300 lbs less than the Spiders) and those cars based on all the magazine test of the day averaged around 13 seconds. Now remember that those tests are quite abusive for the car and I don't think that the majority of the people that buy a 355 are going to do those launches to get those numbers. Even Car and Driver has a more realistic 5mph to 60 test now. Having said that the later 355 Spiders tested were never as quick due to weight and OBDII. I know Allan had a Spider and perhaps the reason he felt the car was not as quick nor as stiff as it should have been is the fact that it was a convertible and not a Berlinetta (lower weight, higher structral integrity). It is comparing apples to oranges in the older generation Ferraris. Not until the 360 Spider could you compare the Structural Stiffness to the coupe and even these Spiders are a tad slower than there Coupe counterparts. As far as looks as many of you have said it is in the eye of the beholder, me personally I love the looks of the 355. As far as the interior, Allan does have a point. If you keep the car outside (especially with the top down) in the hot sun, they have a tendency to shrink the leather around the dash area. This I have seen in other Ferrari's as well due to the fact that they don't put enough leather around the edges of vents, etc. I also think the 355 Interior while to some looks dated, gave a very special driving feel, although the 360's interior is more modern it could also be from any Manufacturer something the 430 has returned to its roots. Guys that are new here, if you keep responding to Allan he won't give up, that is just him. Take it anyway you want.
words are nice and all, but I like to watch the videos. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2726714937706771213&q=ferrari+355 The ferrari did a 13.045, and his shiftign was a little sloppy. I think it would be quite easy to do a 12.XXX run.
Youd make a good attorney. The 355 did not run the 13.045, the NSX did. And btw, the 355 LOST to the NSX.
