I tried 91 octane, but the thing ran like crap. The gas mileage also sucks bigtime.

I rarely stray from the vintage and classic sections, but this thread caught my attention.

FWIW, if you want a vehicle built for the vulgar, nouveau set, well, best of luck - "shuttle" says it all, doesn't it?

The congnescenti are quietly buying up low mileage examples from the Gemini and Mercury programs. The last real spacecraft was built in the 70s. I have a Saturn V w/Apollo capsule and the LEM option - all original - hard to find, but worth every penny.

Caveat emptor - the market is full of quite good Gemini capsule recreations and outright forgeries. If you don't really know your spacecraft, consult an expert.

Edit- I would pay up for a Lunar Rover to go with my LEM - PM me if you are a seller. Also, I could use an extra set of the Mercury program luggage.

Absolutely true. Everyone knows that only the 2-seaters appreciate in value. Sad to say, more than 2 seats and people just think it's a bus (it is called a SHUTTLE right?) and the value stagnates.

I heard the new Z06 is faster than the Space Shuttle. There are vids on the internet to prove it.

    THIS IS TOTAL B.S.

I spoke to the dealer today (Wide Galaxy of Shuttles) and they said there is a 3 year waiting list for an 06 model. WTF? I have previously bought 2 Mercury capsules, 1 Lunar Rover, 6 Hubble Telescope mirrors, and just for kicks, I bought a jet-pack. I guess I'm on the list.

    UPDATE!!

Dealership just called... they're asking me to option this baby out! Do I want Daytona seats? Help!

Tell them you want the glass cockpit upgrade as well.

BTW: I have the original pouch for a Lunar rover for sale. Only 3 were made, this one is a non flown training version. Leather binding with the meatball logo on the front. Reserve on ebay is 3k. And it is different from the Dino version. :)

The Space shuttle is certainly an extremely quick mode of transportation. That being said, it lacks the whole "experience" of say driving a Ferrari 308.

Not sure about that: They share toggle switches from the same era. :)

I found this one on Ebay earlier...can't stand the rims but it looks like a good deal...

Anyone know the serial for this one? I believe it's in AZ.

Any help would be appreciated! I'm a little nervous about the whole thing as this is my first. I know to budget roughly 1.5mm for the services, but realistically how much should I budget on an annual basis?

I'm planning on flying locally, either around the Earth or to the moon. I have no desire to do real touring with it as I have no interest in mars. I don't think I would want to try and take this older model that far.

Cool!! You have just confirmed the Chinese made rims will fit my Shuttle model too. Did you need any Hill Engineering spacers to settle down the high-speed twitchy front end? It does look like your front end is a little light in that picture.

The Space Shuttle that I'm looking at has 30 million miles on it. Is that excessive? How will this high mileage impact future resale value? On a positive note, its not been someones garage queen! Tim

Troll! I buy NASA for the race history - remember, first to the moon? Right?

Why do you haters hang around here, anyway?

Serously now, I would caution anyone thinking of buying a shuttle. You could die!
