    Could be a shot of Ed Gault's 308-2V belt system? -- didn't he have a turbo Corvair?

    Looks like a Ferrari layout for DOHC, except a Ferrari Dino would have lubricated chains inside the front engine cover and those %$#@!! Ferrari chain tensioners. Alfa Romeo uses belts I think.

    "The timing belts should have a service life between 60,000 and 90,000 miles between changes" on a 308? God must be crazy!

    There is an interesting post burried in this section about timing belts. In summary, a well known car guy said that "age" has more to do with timing belt failure than RPM or milage. The magic 30K milage service number was due to the fact that most Ferrari's would rack up more time sitting in the garage before they would ever reach 60K/100K.
