That's two of my favorites that passed away this week. LOS ANGELES - Dennis Weaver, the slow-witted deputy Chester Goode in the TV classic western "Gunsmoke" and the New Mexico deputy solving New York crime in "McCloud," has died. The actor was 81. Weaver died of complications from cancer Friday at his home in Ridgway, in southwestern Colorado, his publicist Julian Myers said. Weaver was a struggling actor in Hollywood in 1955, earning $60 a week delivering flowers when he was offered $300 a week for a role in a new CBS television series, "Gunsmoke." By the end of his nine years with "Gunsmoke," he was earning $9,000 a week. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Yeah DW was great as McCloud which was part of the best network detective line-up ever with columbo and Mcmillan +Wife McCloud had a great episode with him romancing a very young Jaclyn Smith And Kolchak was awesome and DM was a great actor.
This can mean only one thing. Wife will put Duel in the ol' VCR... "Rye. R-y-e. Rye." Wait - make that two things. I just walked down hallway with a flashlight whistling McCloud theme.
Agree w all Duel - Genius. Genius in writing, direction and performance McCloud - My brother and I still use McCloud's old tag line in accent when we don't know what else to say: 'There you go".
Damn...I loved that show, the Night Stalker. Also, he played the father in A Christmas Story...one of the best Christmas comedy movies around.
