What's amazing is that for an addict like me, even that doesn't force me to quit. Pretty scary. Keep it up Antony, every one of you guys that quits makes me feel more like I can do it too!
Hey I quit smoking other things, and have almost completely given up drinking. Plus I've gone psycho diet and have lost 15lbs in 3 months...one vice at a time man!
I talked to my buddy and he took Zyban. first week he was in tears after that smooth sailing. worked for him.
It was pretty good, I mean, I went from a pack and a half a day to 3 cigs, it was kicking out those last 2-3 that killed me. Hopefully the cold laser will go well, if not, I may try the Zyban again.
yea that image doesnt do it for me either...lol I hae more energy and feel happier though in the first 24 hrs
Drink a lot of water and excercise when you can, it helped me keep my mind off it and helps flush out some of the toxins, quickens the process a bit.
I quit about 6 months ago. Patch works great, but give you some SERIOUS vivid dreams. Take it off abt least an hour before going to bed to help avoid this. I think the box mentions something about this. I have slipped 3 times while out drinking. But I have not bought a pack since. The first week or so is the hardest. After that it gets easier. I just eat a lot when I start to crave. I figure I can shed the pounds, but it's hard to shed cancer and all the other nasty things. Plus it feels great to wake up and not have that "cat ****" taste in your mouth. I think the first two weeks or so you're fighting the physical addiction. After that, it's just habbit you have to fight and you have to get used to not smoking after your "triggers" such as during a beer, after eating, sitting down to relax, during short stressful moments, etc. Try not to do lunch, dinners and go to bars with people that smoke. I have no problem at bars when people around me that I don't know are smoking. It's my smoker friends that make it harder. Also try to find a healthy hobby. I took up road cycling and mountain biking. Lots of fun and good for you. good luck
WOOOOOHOOOOOO Very Cool I wish you soooooooo much luck with quiting Let us know how it goes! I know many of us will be here cheering you on and will be here for support!
This list was a good motivation for me, last time I tried to quit I took a cold turkey and was a non smoker for 1½ year (still hate myself because I started again... but right now building up the will to stop again) 1st day: Congrats! you're on your way! Maybe you're feeling a little funny allmost like a flu comming. You have a hard time focusing on normal things. But be happy that your bloodpressure, your blood circulation and your skin temperature is allready close to normal. And the rish of coronary is decreased. 2nd day: You have the urge to smoke, you're restless and maybe a bit quick-tempered. Some will also have palpitation. Choose to see it as a positive thing because it's your body's reaction and clear signal that your nervesystem is getting used to live without nicotine. 3rd day: You probably don't think you're getting better and maybe you're in doubt you ever will be and that this maybe isn't such a good idea. Be happy that you allready breath better and have a better and improved condition, because the carbon monoxide in your blood is gone. 4th day: You body isn't in balance and maybe you briefly will have either constipation or diarrhoea. There is also a possibillity that you'll caugh more than when you smoked and have trouble sleeping. The caughing is a positive sign that the little cilia in your lungs and throat is growing back. Because they were gone because of your smoking. 5th day: You can still be overwelmed by the urge to smoke, but luckily you find out that there will be a longer period between those feelings. Be happy that your sense of smelling and tasting is getting much better. 6th day: You still suffer from withdrawal symptoms, but at the same time you can feel that you're getting much better to control it. 7th day: There!! You made the first week and you're over the worst part. Be happy that from now on it will be much easier and you'll have more energy than before. 8th day: Your breath is getting much better---- you're tasty to kiss again 9th day: Your voice sounds much better. More clean. 10th day: Smoking in your surroundings is getting unpleasant and you don't like the smell anymore. It's a very good sign that you're on your way to let go of this bad habbit. 11th day: Your face is getting a better color, more fresh and clean. Your teath is cleaner - enjoy it! 12th day: Your caughing in the morning and phlegm from your throat is probably gone by now. You now feel that you're on the top of it all. 13th day: You feel more rested in the morning when you're waking up, you're on top of it. Your sense of smelling has increased a LOT and you can smell smoke in your own wardrobe... get it washed! 14th day: Way to go!! You are now more than half way of getting a true non smoker. Now there will be several hours between that you're thinking about cigarettes... maybe even half a day and maybe more. Remember... don't get too brave!... 1....2....3 cigarettes and your a smoker again!!!! KEEP GOING FRIENDS!!! you can do it!!! And sorry for my english translation... i have done it as good as possible for me Hope you understand afterall.
Thanks guys...I cant believe how much difference and how fast your body rejects it. Thanks for that on Tina The dreams......soooo weird. My dream last night was me driving an Enzo but only thing was i had to peddle the car and make the engine sounds myself. No one seemed to notice this except me. The dream felt sooo real. To be honest I cant wait for the one tonight lol Antony
That's what's wierd with those patch dreams. Very vivid and you remember them clear as day. Unlike most where you forget a lot of the detail. If you wrote them down and kept a journal, it would read like a Pink Floyd meets Quentin Tarantino. I had no problem with them, except sometimes they were more axes and blood type dreams, more so than giant flourecent mushrooms that you could ride dreams. It would cause me to wake up a lot an I was not sleeping well then. I started taking the patch off at least an hour ot two before I went to bed which helped.
im kinda excited about the dream tonight. If I wake up through the night I wil have to take it off but we shall see. Antony
The few times that I've quit I've found that the hardest times are when I was at the club/bar with friends that smoke. Not to mention the fact that nothing goes better with a martini than a cigarette.. they go hand in hand.
Congratz on the quitting!! I think that I found the seed that this dream grew out of...check it out and watch the whole video. It's sorta long. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9055154464742875693&q=top+gear+hammond
Antony, Very important that you move the patch around and use multiple locations. I didn't move it as much as I should've and ended up with a couple of locations on my shoulders that itched like crazy several weeks after I stopped using them (the patches). You CAN do this. I smoked for probably 42 years and the last 20 years was pretty much 2 packs/day no filter Camels. But I just kept telling myself "I don't smoke anymore". And you are only weak if you let yourself be weak. After 3 days, I suddenly noticed how good 'air' tasted!
