    Suuuweet!

$10.48 for a heater control valve out of a 1992 Volkswagen Fox. Now that is a VERY nice savings. Thanks for the info.

You just know that *somewhere* in Italy is a list of every outsourced component part number used in a Ferrari 348.

Man, that would be some list to have...

I mean, the window motors: Bosch.

Alternator: AC Delco and Nippendenso. etc.

Heck, it would be a shorter list to name the Ferrari-original parts (e.g. engine, transmission, axels, frame, body panels, seats).

Hey! Perhaps that's what we need to do...compile an exhaustive list of the Ferrari-original parts...so that the Brotherhood would know that *everything* else could be found aftermarket.

You'll find that there tend to be two groups of people who will contact the author of a parts interchange list
    1) Owners who do their own work (ferrarioldman) and are enthusiastic enough to document these interchangable items.
    2) Owners who need the part NOW and don't want to expend effort or pay dealer's prices.

Congrats ferrarioldman, this is a true win!

I agree, and list of all the parts for the 348 brotherhood would be great! But instead waisting our time with the original list, let's do it with everything else.

Spill the beans on where the climate control head or the fuse boxes are from for a 348, and its yours. I figure the way this is going I can pick up both for fourty bucks each, hopefully its a Hyundai or Buick part there close to my house.

You can keep the Red Lobster gift, but all of the Magneti Marelli electronics are Fiat (Fiat owns Magneti). So the climate control head is just as likely to be on an Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Maserati, or Ferrari.

Told dealer to button up the car. I am tired of being without it for weeks on end for an error code. Now that we have replaced EVERYTHING they feel the orignial valve may have been bad....Sounds like someone there is reading my thread.

Well, the good news is that *you* are going to be able to fix this problem for less than $11 more Dollars when you get your car back.

The other news is that this is the *first* bad repair story that I've ever heard about Ferrari of Atlanta. I suppose everyone gets one F-up. This is theirs.

I am not down on FOA. They have put ALOT of time on the car. It is frustrating for them as well. Its sad when the salesman & mechanics & service managers know you by name for such a small issue.

Guys - this repair is all about knowing how something works and how to diagnose the system. It's not about FOA and their friendly staff. They are the dealer and should know how it works and be able to diagnose the problem correctly within a reasonable amount of time and at a fair cost. If they can't, then they should admit that to the customer.
These cars have very expensive parts due to the way Ferrari controls the part suppliers and passes that cost on to their dealers. Because the dealers use OEM parts, they are stuck unless that dealer has employees who really care about their customers and give that little extra effort which some dealers have. The customers who buy these cars and have them serviced, are the ones who drive the business with their passion for the mark.

Thank You, once again, MR Customer for your financial support.

Well since they might be reading this thread. How about refunding him his money for the wiring harness that he DID NOT NEED?!

I do still have it. The dealer took apart a 355 & said the valve showed 5 Ohms when closed. My new one went to infinity, thats why they think its bad & still creates the error code. Now I have check engine issues & no Tach - Maybe from a low battery? The new part should be in by end of next week...the drama continues

I think I was treated fairly. They were upset about the amount of time they dedicated to it (40+ hours) & I was upset about my car being in & out of the shop from Dec thru March. In the end we worked it out.

The sad thing for both of us is that FOA received three different shipments of the heater valve & my car still showed having the code problem. The new parts from ferrari were out of spec. They ended up ripping one apart to prove it

    So all is good
