I'm totally not getting it

Movie sucked/10

 

-10 out of 10, it just plain sucked. No idea why anyone liked.

 

I for one LOVED it... The humor is in just how silly and ridiculous the damn thing is.

I hated it but one of my friends loved it. She has been telling me I need to watch it multiple times to really get it, that I'll see new things each time. Supposedly on her fifth time watching it she noticed the way he eats his nachos is hilarious. I worry about her.

I think it is one of those love it or hate it movies.

 

typically a love/hate thing even the people who hate it can see that it's great just not to their tastes. this movie was just... dull. if i hated it it would only be because of expectations of hearing people say how great it was. i suggest perhaps watching it stoned with a bunch of unemployed flatmates to appreciate it.

 

The reason it is genius is because Napoleon encapsulates every funny aspect of the really really strange nerdy kid who always wore ridiculous clothes, did things as awkwardly as possible, and basically gets caught up in ridiculous conversations because his imagination runs freely like an immature 11 year old fantasizing about Master Splinter trying to beat up Inspector Gadget.

Make sense now?

 

His uncle was definitely funny/pathetic. The steak flinging was great though.

It's one of those movies. You get it, or you don't. It's seems to me that people with "type A" personalities don't get it. You have to pay attention to all the little things too. Like how all the little props in the movie are early 80's (the big ass top loading VCR is a great example). I have not seen a VCR like that in a VERY long time.

The movie is hilarious.

 

The whole damn movie was a prop from the past. That is another thing I couldn't stand about it. I was told it was supposed to taking place now but it was like they were living in this weird time capsule.

 

that wasn't particularly awkwardness but yeah office space (and milton) was great! but no i find it makes me cringe most of the time. my kind of awkwardness which is funny is like Ash in the Evil Deads, Xander in Buffy Vampire Slayer, or Seth in The OC. i need a comic release from awkwardness and then it's hilarious, i don't find awkwardness itself funny.

i'd like to see the correlation between people who like napolean dynamite and curb your enthusiasm...

My funny bone is tickled most when the humor is based on social awkwardness, lol

 

I love Curb. It is one of my favorite shows.

 

Milton is fine and funny and I quite like Office Space, Milton is not enough to carry an entire movie. Napoleon has no break from the stupidity and awkwardness. It’s the entire movie. There is no comic relief. There is no break. It sucked. You can say I don't get it as much as you like, and I suppose I don't. But I really don't want to either.

 

How about British humour? New stuff like The Office, Little Britain??

 

British humor sucks. You guys can have Mr. Bean back.

Another funny movie is Wedding Crashers. If you don't think THAT'S funny, then you have a stick up your ass

 

But you don't need comic relief from pure comedy!

 

Bold statement. Bean's not funny, i agree. However some of the cult classics like Monty Python, Fawlty Towers are world class 30 years on.

 

Interesting because British humor is NOT my bag. I think it is too predictable for some reason and overly garish.
