Hi F-chat buds, After a LOOOOONG and very painful four month mobilization, I'm finally in Afghanistan. Believe it or not, it's good to be here and starting our mission. The country is absolutely breath-taking. Still, it makes me appreciate the United States of America even more. I have yet to start flying but it shouldn't be long, I hope! I'll post some photos of the country when able. The Himalayas are amazing. I am most surprised by how much is actually occuring here! So little is reported on the news and that's disappointing. There are a great deal of good people from all over working hard here. I am also surprised by how much actual fighting happens here. Believe me when I say there are alot of bad guys out there that constantly think of ways to kill us. I truly see this as life or death for our country. Do not underestimate the intelligence of our adversaries, either. They are smart and are constantly adapting to the way we fight. The trick is staying ahead of them. I guarantee the way we fight now we will change many times over the course of the next year. I also have an even more sincere respect for the infantry. Folks, these guys are tough. I'm fortunate as an attack pilot that I get to support them whenever they need us. They are my customers and I'm proud to serve them. All in all, it's good to be here albeit for a heck of a long time! I miss home, my wife and kids but it's a long life and this is a small slice out of it. I'm in the middle in the photos. Take care! Stay safe over there.... flying the Apache looks like fun but it's nice to be able to walk around and go to the bathroom If you could it would be interesting to see some more pics of what the terrain is like over there.
Good to hear from you Dane. Looking forward to some pics from the ship! I enjoyed the last pics you posted from the Apache. What a way to see the country! Stay safe mate!

Dane thank you for your services to this great country! Stay safe and alert, be well man. I have a good friend in the Marines who leaves in July for a seven month tour of Iraq. How long is your tour?
Dane, I was unaware you had been mobilized and were overseas. Thank you so much for your sacrifice. Please be safe. You guys smoke cigars?
How about a F-Chat care package everyone can donate something send over to Dane to make his stay there a little more tolerable.Like batteries, magazines, books, H-bombs or he could make a list of things he needs.
