    1. Talk ONLY to your lawyer
    2. DONT talk about it on a public internet bulletin board until AFTER the dust has settled.

I passed a cop going about 160MPH. Got off with a small fine, nothing more.
How? I retained the best (and most expensive I might add) traffic attorney in the San Francisco Bay Area.

    Last ticket I got (c.1991) was for 65 in a 50 zone--15 over. It cost $200.
I'd say you in big trouble, boy. Better get your affairs in order.

I'm surprised you even know what a radar detector is seeing as you have never gone above 50 mph...

I'm sorry that you didn't wreck . Now with that said I am hoping that they take your car and pull your licence and charge you $100 per mile over the limit and send you to 6 months in jail with a cel mate named Bubba.

When i was in HS, i was racing my friend home. We went to a school about 5 towns away.. Nice ride home.

I had a 1980 Turbo Trans Am (Pace Car) and he was in an '87 Mustang GT 5spd. This one stretch of road was a 35 MPH and it just went straight for miles w/ no lights. To say we got nailed is an understatement.

Cop was hiding on this 45 degree incline street that we all knew was a trap, but took our chances. Within 3 minutes of being on the side of the road, I think just about every cop on duty was surrounding us. I walked away with one 5 point ticket.. my buddy got 4 (no paperwork (3) and speeding (1)).

Cop could have ripped up my license on the spot for doing over double the posted speed limit. Since I knew i was ****ed anyway, i asked the cop after i handed over my papers, "Did I win??"

Cop said, "Hah.. Oh yeah! You Won! Got you at 78, got your pal over here at 68"

If you compare the numbers, mine was worse then yours. I was doing 223% over the posted and you were nailed at 209%. This was 17 years ago (Boy am I getting old.) Call a lawyer, a GOOD one. Im positive it wont get thrown out of court, but every point he can get off is money saved in the long run.

I was young and foolish..didnt know how "the system" worked. I plead guilty by just paying the ticket. Live and learn.

Usually, double the posted speed limit or above is automatic revocation of license...not suspension..they take your license, rip it up into tiny pieces and forbid you from driving...they also give you the "driving is a privilege, not a right" speech.

I almost got caught this weekend doing 80 in a 25. It was in the middle of no where, nobody was around, totally straight, so i gunned it, and then all of a sudden I remembered that there is usually a cop sitting in this place between two trees, so i slowed down and sure enough he was there...

Say nothing,.. get a lawyer,.. and do exactly what your lawyer says no matter how painful that may be. I.e., driving safety course etc...

As long as your record is pretty clean to this point you'll be OK. Hopefully no prior reckless driving, or dui issues. Might be a little expensive. But you'll be OK.

Look at it this way... your ok... no one else got hurt... and no damage to your car. had you even had a little fender bender, that would cost you more.

Hopefully, now your Glass is half full.

    Best wishes... and good luck.

Very easily...unless it was a closed road ( in which case he wouldnt be getting pulled over) SOMEONE could be on it..he could hit a pothole...an animal could run out in front of him..the opportunites for someone to die in this situation are numerous...

The fact is you DONT drive 100+ miles an hour on a public road. Its simply not safe.

And yeah I have a ferrari and a viper so I know speed..but I dont abuse it.

IN A 25!!!?? Holy cr@p. At least a 55 is probably an Interstate. A 25mph limit here is usually the elementary school at the corner. I go 25 (or close) there.

I don't think "cop or no cop" is the issue. Sorry to be so judgemental, but yikes - isn't there a reason for the 25 zone?

Nick, I don't know that there's any rational way (speedometer error?) to talk your way out of it, so if it were me I'd call the lawyer and say nothing to anyone but him. Maybe the your military service could ease things. There might be an F-Chat'er who's a cop in Virginia, but like everyone said here I wouldn't post anything else online.

No this was the absolute middle of no where. There is no chance anyone would have been around. That is the only reason I sped. I adhere to the speed limits 99.9% of the time because I would not want someone's little brother etc etc to die just like I wouldn't like my little brother to die at the hands of reckless behavior.
