I'm going to a wedding in about a month and I'm looking for a pair of loafers (or anything you can recommend) to go with my black suit (Armani blazer and Gucci very loose pants).

I usually wear Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, or Gucci shoes.

But i was really interested in any recommendations for a classic and young shoe.

I have two pair and they're really comfortable. The lasts are totally smooth. I also like the Cole-Haans with the Nike Air soles - and they're cheap.

Sperry makes some cool stuff, but might be too casual for Armani...:)
Look, the reality is that most slacks 'cover' the footgear you are wearing unless you 'cross' your legs alot, in which case I'd be more worried about my hose...
Just kidding and having fun--my 'suss' is that any black shoes work because few folk really pay attention to your shoes, unless that's all you are wearing.

I'm going to actually disagree here. Your feet can tell cheap shoes and they don't last. And I have been told (by women) that they notice shoes - including my current girlfriend who is 13 years younger than me (yes - I'm a dirty boy).

Based on how you described your attire, you can wear a loafer w/ a buckle, or shoelace type, too.

Shoelace type is better suited for formal attire, so you may want to consider one.

If you're brand minded, Santoni, Vuitton, Tods, & Hermes are very good. So does Prada & Ferragamo. The best is Berluti, but it's not available in the US (as far as I know)

For quality shoes w/ good price, visit Nordstrom & Nieman, better yet their outlet stores if you have one. You can always find a good buy there.

bensilver.com carries alden, crockett and jones and some others. both make very nice shoes. Their site is a bit confusing at times, the page numbers are above the products.

It is tradition to wear only lace-up shoes with a suit and loafers with slacks and a sport jacket. Check out styleforum.net for more suggestions as far as brands. The real forum crashed but there is a temp. forum up where you can post.

This part concerns me. First off, you shouldn't be mixing and matching to create a suit. Second, "very loose" is very not in style, and hasn't been since the 90s. And how is the jacket? If it's one of those huge-shouldered Armani 80s power suit type jackets, I would recommend against it too. Honestly, this decade has been all about slim and trim. If your stuff is out of date, I seriously recommend just going to H&M and spending $250 on a suit that at least modern in cut.

As far as the shoes, black is a very limiting color suit. You'll basically have to go with black shoes. A lace-up would be much more appropriate for a wedding, but if you really want a loafer, you have a lot of options. Tod's and Ferragamo are the standard options. Prada and Gucci are acceptable too.

For actual quality, Zegna or Ferragamo's Tramezza line would be good. Any better than that (in an Italian styled shoe), and you're looking at astronomical prices.

I don't mean this to sound rude but I don't think
I need advice on my attire
I really don't think I need advice on what shoes to wear either
I'm really only asking if their are any brands or shoe makers of loafers that are new to me or that one would consider "quality craftmanship" for a loafer.

And as for loose pants going out of style your wayyyyyyy off
Look at the newer Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Gucci,Yves Saint Laurant, and many many more
Now you may have taken lose as Zoot suit
but i mean more of a boot cut - or baggy leg bottom
    Just not pencil slim

O and the jacket is brand new out of the 2006 spring collection which i just bought

Well, he's right though - it's not really a "suit" if the pants and jacket aren't the same fabric, cut, etc meant to be together... it's just a sportscoat and pant outfit otherwise. And those aren't supposed to be the same color.

He makes some great shoes and even uses carbon fiber in many of them. I have only one pair that were given as a gift but they are my favorite pair of shoes. I met Toschi once and he is a car nutt like us (that was the inspiration for some of his designs).
