Trouble is that I don't think the FXX is beautiful :)
See what you can do in a carport with a few cans of filler...

It was a difficult decision whether to post the development throughout or to wait like Napolis has for a dramatic unveiling. I finally decided to do it this way so that the FerrariChat community could feel a part of the project.

It is amazing how much time is now being spent on chasing symmetry, I now know why God invented CNC machining, only wish I could have used it for the body. There won't be any more dramatic updates as the shape is now finalised. The next interesting images will be when it has been preped and painted for the moulds to be taken. it will look even closer to the finished article then.

    Thanks for the support.

Took a rough measurement, the car is 6 inches wider than original.

How did you get on with the wiring, I bought a Stack Dash for mine, but to be honest after seeing how much wiring there is laying in your car after you took the dashboard out I'm having second thoughts, I would have thought being an older more basic car the wiring would be less, are you making a new loom

The wiring just looks worse than it is. Just like doing the rest of the car, simply work through it methodically.

The "electronics" were a selling/promotional point when new but proved problematic in practice.

the problem I have is the car has been off the road so long I want to get it done and use it, I might stick the dash in a cupboard and do it next winter.

One problem I have is the Stack dash is so small and does everything and more than the normal dash, I don't want to have wires bunched up everywhere.
I also want to take out the panel between the seats as I won't be having air con or window switches etc..., as thats all coming out, for the summer I have a small clipon 12v fan to use, in the winter I will wear a coat!

Can you remove just the front fascia dashboard and vents/glove box etc..., leaving just the console and cover

    Cheers clive

but will the Binnacle or gauge cluster (whatever you call it yourself) stay sitting behind the wheel or does it need the main (full width of the screen) dash to fit to or does it screw to the body of the car, Thanks

I like what I see. I think the 360 lights would look great with your setup, but it seems you've already got your headlight design planned out. It looks to me more like a 355 2+2 mid engine concept than a Mondial. Can't wait to see the end result.

    The binnacle needs the dash.
You could knock up something in aluminium I suppose. I am working on my dash assembly now and that will be fairly light.

360 lights are the wrong curvature for the front plan. The lights that I will make will be a coherent part of the design.

The fun one will be the 3-seater with 355 engine...

I've got a cf dash, I was just taking one step at a time rather than rip it all out and have to fit all new sensors etc...

Each to his own and live and let live are my mottos. Some people could use a bit of tolerance, but that's another discussion.

Zertec amazes me by going way out there realizing a dream. If I had the talent/knowhow/resources/balls I'd do the same thing. Take a Ferrari and make it better by personalizing it and turning it into something that hasn't existed before. And doing it professionally.

I'm trying this on 1/18 scale and that's about as far as I can take it, but seeing somebody doing it full size is so incredibly cool.

Besides I'm a HUGE fan of 3 seaters (always loved the Matra and now the McLaren) and central position is really what a non compromising sports car should be all about. It surprises me that it isn't done more often. The Matra had the seats in one row, that's only for skinny people (excludes me), but the way to do it (and hoping Zertec is going that route) is the driver seat in front and the other two a tad backwards to the side. That way even full size Americans have a chance. :)

    I like it.

If you buy for example an mr2 and put a body kit on the car to make it look like a Ferrari, well then that is sad. The mr2 is a decent enough car in its own right.

Zertec is making a good (Ferrari) car into a superb Ferrari.

Can't wait to see the end result.

It shows determination as to how long hes spent on the car, most would give up or buy another just to have one to use, like most I can't wait to see the finished car

I absolutley hate mr2 fake 355's, and god knows why they command such high prices for a 4 cylinder tupperware bowl!

At least you won't see another one when you are driving it (the Mondial Z that is!)
