Ahhhh, another celebration of the rich and beautiful people patting each other on the back, congratulating each other for the wonderful job they did making each other richer so they can spend more money to stay beautiful and make more money, etc, etc, ad infinitum.

Remember when Hollywood gave us John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, and Henry Fonda fighting Indians and outlaws in the golden west, then riding into the sunset with the beautiful saloon girl or the local school "marm".

Today we get 2 strange cowboys frolicing in the clover behind the barn on the corporate cattle ranch.

Movies are pretty much dead.. Very few good stories still left that havent been done yet. I only goto the movies if it is some big budget, special effects movie.

I still havent seen King Kong yet, if that tells you anything. No time, No motivation. Ill wait for it to come on HBO or Starz or something. Then Ill watch bits and pieces and put it all together.

I wasn't on line yesterday, so I plead ignorant. Besides, I mentioned John Wayne so my thread is better. And we've also had over 12 hours of media blitzkrieg from all the talk shows and news magazine shows as they continue to pat each other on the back.

The industry cares. And, believe it or not, those awards make a huge difference to the folks that get them, both in terms of prestige, as well as income.
And, believe it or not, there are many, many people who go to see the films up for nomination, either at the theatre, or look for them on home video.

Having said that, I don't go to, or watch the ceremonies.

And, there have been many instances where a movie or talent is ignored and history shows that to have been a mistake.

I don't have a problem with homosexual wranglers, though.

I don't even watch TV much anymore, the Oscars were always painfull to watch these so called famous and supposedly respected people simply because they can act and whats funny is they seem to think anyone with a real brain really cares what they think.

Haven't seen the rump ranger movie have no desire, but I did like the part in Blazing Saddles where Slim Pickens comes up to the cowboys dancing to Camptown Ladies and says "I paid you guys to work not dance around like a bunch of Kansas City fa ggots!" if that counts.

One year all of Hollywood is kissing your butt and you're getting an Oscar. The next year you're getting a Razzy award and nobody will return your calls. I don't care for people like that. If I received an Oscar, I would hold it up with one hand and say "This is for me." Then with my other hand, I would hold up my middle finger and say "This is for you all".

Thankfully with the advances in technology, it's just a matter of time till all these clowns will be replaced with CGI.
