All air coolers have a unique style, that what makes them great cars JP, however you are in the minority. The 993tt was and is the pinicle which all others are measured. There is a reason round headlights and the hips are being designed back into the new cars.

i too own a 930. like lots of us on this site, i can own any of the models but always go back to the 930 as it is still so nasty . mine has a killer andial motor and really will hurt nearly any car on the road...it will also hurt any driver w/o the proper respect. i love them so for their nasty disposition when unleashed but very docile when out about town.

kinda the ultimate social butterfly...but slut in the bed room!!!!

i currently have a very nice gentleman that is trying to convince me to sell him my car. he is is coming out of a 993 tt but wants a race car type machine that is more sensory.

he said my car makes his car seem slow and tame...he also said he hopes i will sell as his son has already told all his friends at schoolabout the rocket his dad is getting. tough decision ...sell or hold? if i sell, i'll just end up getting another. damn 930's ugh!!!! lol

Just wondering, were euro bumpers on 930 different in style/appearance? If so can someone post a picture?

Totally disagree the 993 tt/996tt with its 4 wheel drive and heavy weight take away the experience I have driven them and they don't compare which is why I don't have one. 930s are the drivers Porsches, a light weight, rear wheel drive factory race car, the huge fender bulges stand out compared to subtle curves of the 993tt/996tt and look much more radical.

Don't forget the GT2. Big hp AND rear wheel drive. This may be my next daily driver. I much prefer it to the awd versions. Much better steering feel and ,for me in Southern CA, no need for awd.

The weight and awd comes from marketing demands. The new Porsche owners don't look for raw excitement. They are much older and value a grand tourer which is what the car has evolved into. The feel is completely engineered in for the buyers of this model. The GT2 is the true spiritual successor of the 930. LeMans use to dictate what Porsche sells-winning 935's gave the public racer wannabes the 930. 964 GT2 and 993 GT2 were legislate into less successful LeMans competitors (by air restrictors) and when Porsche stopped racing in fastest class at LeMans we get 996 and 997 variants. My personal favorite is the 993 Turbo S given extensive weight removal optioning.

Love the 993, especially the tail wing. More aggressive looking than the 996 and 997.

I'd read on Pelican that Andail will be closing their doors for good this year. :( You've got a very special motor in that car. The shop that built that also has built multiple IMSA and 24hr of LeMans winning engines. It'll be a very sad day when it does happen and close more than a page or chapter in the history of Porsche. Porsche made a good engine, Andail made it better.

Don't sell. You have an Andail 930. What else would you want? The only thing comparable would be a RUF.

    Just my .02

for the most part, your comments are spot on. a nit pick would be that the 930 predated the 935 by several years. your gt-2 point is true...i had actually never thought of it like that.

a neat thing about the original 930 was that it was a legitinate homolgation special. porsche really did race on sunday and sell on monday.

a note: if the evolutionary pictures are to scale, it is interesting to see how the cars have gotten so much larger. to the prior posters point, the cars have become less a "racecar' and more a "GT".

Porsche only planned on making the original 400 930s for homologation then stopping production but the demand was so great they continued production, the 930 is basically a continuation of the early 911RS out of the box race car. Many 930s were raced basically stock at Le Mans and won their class and others which can't be said about the later turbos.

wow...news to me ! you mentioned the history of andial w/ all the race wins and the association w/ holbert thru the years has been important in porsche racing history. imsa championships and the like!

when i bought my current 930, i knew immediately, that this car was going to be a screamer and that it was going to laguna hills to let dave and the "doctors" have a bite of the apple...they did not disappoint! what a machine...thanks for the information. sad day indeed.

jeff your car is one of the real homologation cars...you know the one they had said, "more 930 turbo owners threw away their car on the first day of ownership than any other car in history!"

    the early 930 commanded respect!!!

...or it would kick your d_ _ck in the dirt!!!

as a comment, the 930 is to porsche as the boxer is to ferrari.
