They seem to have trouble selling this white 512 TR? I might be interested, but something tells me to double check everything.

Everyone here will tell you to double check everything. Please post the VIN or a link to the ad. The 512TR is my favorite Ferrari. White is a harder sell than the red or black 512TR, so that may be the only reason it has been there a long time. How long has it been for sale there?

    Nice...

In 1997, this car was offered for sale in Wylie, TX. Listed as white with black leather. 24,000 miles. It was offered again in 1998, one owner, 27,000 miles. Seven months later, the ad changed to 26,000 miles. It was offered for sale again in 1999.

In September, 2004, the car was offered for sale at the Manheim Auto Auction. Simply listed as "white".

In April, 2005, it was offered for sale again at Manheim. Listed as white, with 17,629 miles.

I work for the Ferrari Market Letter - we keep pretty meticulous records... Whenever we come across information on a car, we put it in our database. And this thread is a perfect example of why serial numbers are so important. :)

This is the response I got.

    Hello Mr. Adam.

Here is the history for thie 512TR by a Car Fax and a Auto Check.

We purchase the 512TR on the Exotic Sale on Manheim PA. We bought for $68 plus fees, add a shipping and some expenses. All the books, keys and maintenance records is here. included Car Fax and Auto Check with all the history for this fantastic 512TR.
We performance the Major serviced completely including all the belts, labor and oil change and CAM BELTS. Now the vehicle is great ready to go anywhere. We like the vehicle and if is not for this understanding history, obvious the vehicle working so much more money, on a positive note, the over all condition of the vehicle is one step below mint, it is a 14yr old collectible car. Here is the date reported
by auto check. For this 1992 Ferrari 512TR, NO indication of an odometer rollback or tampering was found. We determine odometer rollbacks by searching for records that indicate odometer reading that are less than a previously reported value. Other odometer events can report events of tampering, or possible odometer breakage. By the Ferrari word, right now we are the luck one to have this fantastic and pleasure fun to drive 512TR. May be all this Puzzle, is for you have the same car I see on Ferrari Concours D'Elegance and other events over$115K and we have for $75. That's good.

Be honest with you I don't know were is this 24K-26K-27K, come from if everything is on black and white, with all the explanations BUY a Full history by CAR FAX, AUTO CHECK,CLEAN TITLE, plus all the documentation we have to help put the pieces for this puzzle together.
The 512TR did in fact come through New Mexico, it was brought to my attention via Auto Check the vehicle has a discrepancy, this would be caused by clerical mistakes caused by DMV in New Mexico, attached is the auto check for the 1992 Ferrari 512TR, as you can see the ownership page there was no evidence of the vehicle having TMU until it came out of the country. The good news on all this history this is a good Car, Fun to drive, great performance, and has a GOOD TITLE means a clean TITLE. If you have any questions or comments or would simply like to see the car give me a call. I will await contact from you as far as the purchase is concerned.

    Warm Regards

A 512 TR with under 20k indicated miles all service up to date.
They purchased it for 68 and are offering it for 75k.

Sounds too good to be true, you know what they say about that.

I think a 512 with a salvage title would be worth that.

Get the maintenance records faxed. They should all have a date and mileage at that time. If they are marked out, I would conclude that the mileage was indeed turned back at some time.

I spoke with them on the phone when I was looking for a 512 TR - one of my favorite Ferrari's ever. I got a little nervous when they said they performed the service themselves and stamped the books themselves. I also decided I could just not drive a white one, so I purchased a 1993 Rosso Corsa/Black 512 TR.
