In January I took delivery of my first Ferrari, a red 355 F1 spider and, despite the terrible weather here in the UK at the moment, I've have had a lot of fun driving this amazing car. So different from the Lotus Esprit I had a couple of years ago.

I noticed a few days ago that a small puddle of bluish water has collected underneath the car. I can't get underneath the car at the moment to see where its coming from and was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and what the cause might be? The leak appears to come from the front of the engine (nearest the cabin) around the middle of the car. I've checked fluid levels in all systems that I can access and nothing seems to be low. It appears to collect shortly after a run and it doesn't seem to get any larger in the week that it has been idle. Is there an overflow outlet of some kind in this location?

    Best Tom

if it's blue it's probably windsheild washer solvent.

I took delivery of a 1984 308 QV in September. I have stored the car for the winter but I too have noticed a leak underneath the car i n the same location as described by TomF.

It does not seem to get any larger as time passes. I dont think it is windshield washer fluid because the level does not change. It seems a little on the oily side. Thisis my first Ferrari so I am still trying to get acquainted with all of the workings of the car. Quite a bit different than the Porsches I have owned in the past.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Best Regards,
    George

Your coolant overflow drain is a small black tube just behind the right side door, just in front of your back right wheel.

Wrong again no doubt, this is 355 here and the expansion tank is between the intake plenums and its overflow tube runs down the backside of left hand cyc. head and then down along the area where the gearbox and engine connect then exits the bottom of the car.

Hey Vern! Good to see that you're my official Ferrari fact-checker. Thanks for the correction.

Say, is that the coolant drain hose in the bottom right of this picture?

If it is leaking from the middle of the car. As rifledriver said, get a pressure test done on the cooling system to check for leaks. It could be the waterpump leaking through the tell tale hole. The waterpump sits behind the timing belt covers and is in the middle of the car behind the cab of course. Unless its a radiator/coolant hose in that area also? Get the pressure test done asap and you will soon see :)

No. It looks like a power steering hose but I can't see it clearly. The coolant overflow drain hose is only 10-12mm O.D. and that hose looks bigger in dia. On the subject your Fchat checker someone needs to be.

It looks like the coolant has left alot of residue on the front of the motor. There are many coolant hoses up there that could be the culprit, and it may require some digging, along with pressure testing to find. I would pull the decklid and the cover off the valley and look under the coolant tank, you may be able to see where it is coming from. It may turn out to be a loose hose clamp or somthing simple like that. Or not. I have found loose clamps at the cooler under the tank on almost every car I have serviced.
Perhaps someone could post a parts page for reference...
