Agreed. To each their own, brutha. Incidentally, I haven't done anything in a long time. I certainly don't have any issues with those who do though.
And neither do I. I am too much into "free will" and all that. That said, however, I dont want a habitual user driving my kids to school either.... if I had any kids.
Ill be straight forward here....I have never done any drug in my life except for smoke. I have worked in clubs been to every major city, point being I have been bombarded by many heavy drugs. I am not judgmental of people who do so but tend to keep them at arms length. None of my close friends do it so its fine with me. I never got sucked into the peer pressure thing and had no desire to even try drugs. As for smoking, I did it in my home with some close friends and felt no harm. I am by no means someone who smokes all the time. I have done it maybe 10 times in my life. To me it doesn't seem to be as bad as people make it. Gateway drug...maybe. Will power is stronger with me I suppose. Anyway point im saying is who cares. If one person does it and you don't like it stay away from them. In my lifetime and generation it seems to be as casual as drinking....doesn't make it right but you know what I mean. Antony
Being a Trance/Dance event promoter and organiser, i can share a few experiences. One gig that i had done in Melbourne here, i remember it being especially bad. As people started to flow into the venue when it opened, we had to have drug dogs there (as required by the federal police), and seriously, about 50% of the people turned around when they saw the dogs.. Searches on random people happened, and the holding line for people holding drugs was longer than the actual line to get in. The police don't tend to arrest people there, unless its a large amount (aka a dealer), or its especially bad stuff (date rape pills, crack). There was a few arrests, but overall it was all good. The evening before, the federal police installed optical air pollution meters, and substance testers in the roof and in the bathrooms of the venue. We were told that we couldnt use the smoke machines, and that they would only allow us to operate, if we co-operated. They measured a ~30% reading on what was deemed to be smoke from Pot in the main area, ~45% in the male toilets, and ~15% in the females... This was after the drug dogs and screenings.... God knows how they got that stuff in there So yeah, down here at least, its use is still quite common. Its actually legal to grow and smoke in our own Nations Capitol, but not its other states. It would be like banning guns from every city/state in America, except Washington DC. Dosnt make sense
If I took an average from about 2001-June of 2005 it would probably come out to about 4-5 days a week for those years. Never felt nor do I feel any less intelligent, probably had some of the best politically and morally charged debates with my friends and others when I was stoned. One time when I first started we were sitting around watching Jeopardy and I was getting a few of the questions right and one my friends just couldn't believe I knew the answers especially being high. Typically I would smoke and then go do something active or watching the History channel. I quit in June because I knew I would be getting a job after graduating college. Been sober since. All the commercials annoy me and I find the stereotyping pretty far off, and by no means a reflection of a majority of stoners. Everyone I knew and know that still smokes have either graduated from some sort of schooling, be it college or a technical school and are doing great. Stoners do not sit around and contemplate the meaning of the word string. I would much rather come home and have a smoke after work than drink a beer. The only downside, the amount of money I could still have in my pocket. Oh well, there's still plenty in there so it's all good. Now, I just need to plan that trip to Europe and stop by Amsterdam.
