About 6 months ago, on one of the Lambo web sites (don't remember which) there was a thread about a guy with a Murci in Europe who was doing about 180 and suddenly lost control of the car and totaled the car.

He initiated legal action against Lambo for design flaw and Lambo's position was driver error. He hired an investigator who went back to the crash site and the investigator found the right front rotor..it had a large crack that split the rotor.

He posted pictures the investigator took of the crash site, including the cracked rotor laying in the woods.

Yesterday, I was at my mechanics shop and a freind of mine with a Murci was having his car worked on and discovered his right front rotor was cracked.

I told him about the above incident...he called Lambo who put him in touch with the regional rep. The rep said just send him a pix of the cracked rotor and the will replace it for free. The entire event took less than 30 minutes to resolve - his car is out of warranty - so might be a recall or Lambo is aware of it and is more than willing to replace them.

Bottom line - when washing or working on your car - keep an eye on your front rotors, especially the right side.

They all come as drilled rotors, right? I don't know why they would have them drilled. It makes them more prone to cracking compared to slotted. I believe a few 996TTs that were being tracked each had at least one of their rotors break into pieces, drilled rotors.

Edit: A crack on a cross drilled rotor usually connects two or more drilled holes.

UPDATE - Appears someone at Lambo is watching this thread and they are not happy. They are begining to change their story. Another cracked rotor has been reported down here.

Anybody else here experienced a cracked rotor? Have Andrew from another board.

Edit: Whoever from Lambo is watching... please chime in. This is an open forum.

I will check the rotors on my car today when i go home, but i would think it would be hard to do without removing the wheels from the car.
