I'm not sure I'd want to be compared to Simon Cowell, but whatever floats your boat.
We are equal opportunity offenders - - so either car, although I won't make any bones about the fact that I am dying to see a FGT in the flesh. Not only have they improved, but they have improved greatly. I can appreciate the concern with reliability, maintenance, etc. - who's got the time to keep carting the car to the shop?! I've also owned a Ferrari 355 Berlinetta before so I know the financial impact of Italian passion as well. Aud...errr, Lambo has done an amazing job with this car. With Audi's backing, the car has Italian flair but German reliability. When I was getting serious about my purchase, I scoured a number of different boards trying to find something - anything - that I could point to that would lead me to believe the car faced the typical engineering / reliability issues of an Italian marque. I was hard-pressed to find one. There were a couple of issues early on - coilover covers, headlights, e-gear software, clutch - but they were identified quickly and addressed under warranty. The car is truly a dream to drive. If the passion continues to run high for one of these, I'd urge you to seriously consider it. I think you'll find it similar in some respects to the FGT but also quite different in others. I haven't had tons of supercars from which to make a comparison. But having driven a number of different Ferraris (no F430 as yet), Porsche's and other high-end cars, I can honestly say this is by far the best car I have ever experienced. So much so that I may actually keep it for more than a year -
Ghost: I'll make a deal with you. When my GT arrives I will trade test drives with you. You and I have owned very similar cars in the past, so your impressions of the Gallardo will likely be similar to my own, I suspect. An Italian car with German reliability, that is one hell of a selling point!
Well I've been putting some more questions together, once I have the big list finished... I would like to visit Bergen Lambo, but I'd like to PM any one who might have been there before first, as I would only be going to get answers to aid in my buying decision, not to buy immediately. I don't know how they will react to that. I don't know if any one from Bergen Lamborghini is on here, but if any one from the establishment is on here I would love to ask you some questions about the Gallardo.
this thread has helped me a lot as im in the same boat [not me, personally, but the parents are thinking of purchasing an exotic]. what they're looking for is, simply put, sort of an 'everyday exoitc' something they can drive a few times a week, and not jsut on weekends -- something that wont spend half of its life [or more] in the shop/at the dealer for service every X number of miles; could the G be it?
right on. im working my way through this thread [and the forum] looking for everything we need to know before taking the plunge
hey bud, I'm trying (keyword: trying) to get a ride in a G and I'll be photographing pics and stuff just incase you're curious about the little tidbits like where the buttons for certain things are, what the engine bay/compartment looks like, all that other cool stuff, reviewing the ride, etc... IF I can meet with him. Also asking the owner a lot of questions...I mean an epic amount of questions. Here's to hoping!
ooof! Just a quick update folks, I think I'm going to go after the most 'bang for your buck deal' on a sports car. I learned a few things, lambo specific and otherwise, in the past month I'm putting together a little 'info file' for potential buyers, lambo gallardo specific and in general as well. I'll write this stuff up and post it to the thread, and once it's all done I will add the second half in a new thread. I'd type it up now but I have to run, this is a lot of really good info for people new to the sports car/exotic purchase experience. How to save on insurance, good ways to prepare for ownership, a lot of good stuff to come! Thanks again to the people on here who have been understanding along the way, thanks for your help! I only hope my write up will be helpful for others in the same boat down the line.
Mr. I realize by now that this discussion is overkill but please, you have to be more open minded with your obvious wisdom. Not everyone think like you and why is it forbidden to have the dreams to buy an exotic one day if you dont have the cash today. So you never thought about buying an exotic when you were a teenager? Ever heard the phrase: there are never any dumb questions, only dumb answers (I hope this phrase is known also outside Sweden, where I'm from BTW) This is the same thinking as saying to someone that is a waitress that you are not aloud to think that you one day will be an astronaut because you are a waitress. COME ON, my dad is 39 and he just laughed at your comments, but we do respect your thoughts and so should you respect ours. OK I'm off let the flaming begin .-) JK

I often times try to reframe from postings that don't seem to add answers to any of my curiosity sparked questions. However this individual proved that a founder of a Wall Street hedge fund, with all the bonuses that he might be making does not give him one ounce of class, humility or even respect from my part at least. Unfortunately it only made him a bitter unconfident individual. And by the way: Put your doubts to rest because a lot more humble people in this forum have trust funds worth much more than what your firm would profit in a lifetime. I know one thing if I owned a dealership and had to come in contact with such a low life I would do everything and everything to make his life difficult. As I hope they all will.
