Weng I leave tmw from SFO, 1 week my final move will be in Aug. look forward to more sepang days with you guys
Alright guys, there's only one convoy moving out from Hong Seh 9.00am Friday morning. Sepang ticket/pax is $1100 (Is it Ringgit? I checked & it's turquoise seats) Hotel/night is RM829(Exp due to F1 season ), next to KLCC with min 2 nights & non refundable upon booking. Coming back on Sunday right after the race. If it's the school holiday, it's going to be quite a jam coming back. I think no more carpass left to the carpark by now. http://malaysiangp.com.my/motorsports/f1/tickets.html
Ah! Didn't know you are coming from SFO, got com set stuff to buy from there and also US Beef. Back in time for track sessions.
House of Prime Rib on Van Ness Also if you want locally grown, there is a Harris Ranch Resturant..its the one on I5 that stinks up your drive to LA Ruths Chris aint bad My favr is this one http://www.forbesmillsteakhouse.com/ it is a little far out of the city, about 45 mins on south
Hi guys. Anybody knows the owner of the silver 993 turbo? Heard he wants to sell it. How's the condition? Mileage is about 55000km. Is it original? Thanks.
Bought a GT3 Cup car for the track (and this year's 12 hour enduro). The truck will be for the run up and down the N/S, and for the occasional wet weather track excursions - plus serving as a support vehicle for the racing endeavors.
Hiya Weng, I was just closing a deal last week with SPS which involved me hounding you during the Merdeka 12 hours in their race-prepped GT3 RS, but the f*(#ers sold it the day before I agreed to their terms!!! Oh well... Hmm... Maybe I can arrange a deal with their GT3 RSR! ; )
"Im sure the Phantom has an airbag but theres no sign advertising the fact. Its probably a brown paper bag and arrives in the cabin after a discreet Ahem."
Weng, you taking part in The merdeka race? got some friends who would be taking part too, Rainer and some frds. . the circle is pretty small... not sure... if we fall in the same group of friends. Anyway, all the best and good taste
I wonder if anyone here has ordered the new turbo, performance wise its facinating how a tip can do better than a manual...quite unimaginable in the past. I might actually turn into a convert for tips....
No money to order a new Turbo. As far as the Tip being quicker in the 0-100km/h sprint, it has something to do with the gearing methinks.... Yeah, maybe it's time to take a look at tippy-tronics what with the blardy traffic jams we have in KL especially....NOT!
Due to the new variable turbine geometry (VTG) system and improved engine control technology, in addition to mechanical and electronic Improvements in the Tiptronic S gearbox, the Tiptronjc S version is slightly faster to 60 miles per hour. The optimized interaction between the new all-wheel-drive system, Porsche Traction Managemen (PTM), Tiptronic S five-speed automatic transmission, and Tiptronic-specific calibration of the engine management controls and associated variable turbine geometry (VTG) system, allows the new 911 Turbo with Tiptronic S to accelerate slightly quicker than models equipped with the manual 6-speed transmission. Improvements to the Tiptronic S transmission in the latest 911 Turbo contribute to the performance gains. These include: 1. Earlier ramp-up of boost pressure when ?brake-torqujng? the transmission 2. Increased torque build-up allowed when brake-torquing 3. Reduced shifting- and reaction times If launched appropriately, a 911 Turbo equipped with Tiptronic S is essentially ?pre-tensioneci? at the starting line, and during acceleration runs, power-interruptions are reduced in comparison to the 6- speed manual transmission. Aiding acceleration, when paired with Tiptronjc S, the all-wheel-drive system with PTM can deliver a nearly uninterrupted flow of torque to all four wheels.
VTG, its very innovative solution to an old technology. The question now is...how would the tuners tune it? Dump the original turbos and slap on bigger after burners (Uwe Gemballa) or like techart, try to tune up the power...it would not be easy with having the tune the flaps electronically IN the turbo itself for more power.... Now to find a dealer that actually have a test drive vehicle I really hate the sounds of tips on the normally aspirated porks. Especially those that switch to after market exhaust, just sound horrible...at least the tips on the turbos sounds much better. Two intersting discoveries I just made today I cant handle anything above 500HP on wet roads, 4wd or no 4wd I have lost the ability to parallel park. (Dun ask me why)
Agree, I can never get used to an idea a tip is a tip, its just a Mercedes gearbox for christ sick, so its an auto.....An auto is an auto is an auto. But then again 3.6s for an auto is really tempting, imagine, your granny, girlfriend, babe, hot tai tai with manicured nails can leave your ferrari in the dust...Now that is horrifying
Yeah, on paper that might sound frightening and the 3.6secs is deffo bragging rights at the pub/bar but to really get the published times in an AT, you must know the technique of 'launching' an AT equipped car first......the words 'brake-torquing' come to mind and no way am I teaching my missus to do that....even if I can afford them new TTs! On another note I guess 'launching' a manual shift to duplicate the factory times also would have to be done in a brutal manner...that can actually 'lunch!' the gearbox, so I guess in the real world the Tip' wins...hehe!
Hmm the quickest time i ever got out of any auto was to hold the brake pedal and accelerator at the same time....but after several experiments, the warning lamp came on..."Warning Failure, limp home mode" hahaha... thank goodness the car was still on warantty...and they quietly replaced the gearbox and sent the old one back to Germany for analysis...after all it was a V12 Limo and me looking old white hair and all, could not possibly have behaved like a hoon out of MAX magazine right? hahaha
