No big deal just the way we handle things here in Vegas Best doing it the legal way, as I mentioned bring everything you can to document your side of the story.
I watch her from time to time and I admire her sense of humor mingled with her strong personality.. Maria
my cousins a lawyer, i heard tons of stories from him....some of the most interesting ones, he defended odb (old dirty bastard, the rapper) before he died and puff daddy (or p. diddy or watever his name is today)...and martina hingus (tennis player)...i'm telling u, people nowadays (not u arabian-eyes) will sue for some of the stupidest things and how some of the smallest things that u wouldn't think of to become a lawsuit actually end up winning.... i guess thats the new way of 'striking it rich'....just file a lawsuit...
wow I'd be delighted to listen to ur cousin's stories..I love this field of practice. You're right though, Although I've heard many ridiculous stories of people suing right and left in the USA ,I guess lawyers can't complain about it. Maria
yeaaaa, he doesn't complain about it, but then again u only go into law if ur interested in it....i was there when he was talking to odb (in nyc) i couldn't go into the room, but i was sitting in the bad boy building upstairs while they were talking, he came out with all of his cds and gave me some, he said he had to listen to the lyrics of his music (cuz it had some sort of effect to the case)...lol that was interesting... i also heard abbout people suing because the coke was too cold and underwear was too tight, and that famous one in cali, the finger int he salad...lol even the reason to sue someone has gotten sadder and sadder as the years go by...
Yeh but this is only applied in the USA, it's not like this everywhere...Also, to tell you honestly there are lots of things I like to do in life, but I only select the "thing" I consider fulfilling my needs mostly and make it a career for me...I guess different people have different needs and experience satisfaction differently. Maria
ur totally right, i'm just generalizing when i say that, i know that there are people that do things for themselves...its just some of thse "bad apples'' i guess....but good luck on ur court date, i hope it comes out in our favour....i watch peoples court a lot....my cousin worked with the judge on that show, marilyn milan, when he was in ny...thats probably why i watch that show otherwise lol i woulnd't be watching it...
Here's what happened in the court today.Unfortunatly the judgment wasn't rendered right away,it will be sent by mail.It was the same for the 2 precedented cases.I'm dead tired because I only got 2 hours of sleep...I had a hard time to sleep since I was exited and stressed at the same time. So, I showed up to court earlier by 20 min and waited until 1:30pm.I got inside the room, there were people coming in as well.I wondered who they were..It revealed they were people involved in other cases. So, I sat there alone and waited for the 1st case to be heard. Afterwards, when we were called infront, I asked for this proceeding to be held in English. The defender declined to be able to proceed in english, so she asked for a translator and there was noone at that time!!! Sooooooooooooooo we went back to our seats to wait for that translator who showed up 2 hours later..It was a long waiting !!After all this time waisted, finally the translator showed up at 3:30pm, half an hour before the closing.I prayed that my case would'nt have to be postponed due to the delay the defender caused. The irony is that the translator didn't translate her a word since the defender didn't feel the need too. As you can imagine, that didn't make me happy to realize that I waited all this time for nothing. Anyhow, as I was the plaintiff, I was the first to give my version of the story supported with evidences. As it was the the defendant's turn afterwards, she started off topic talking about irrelative facts..Throughout the whole trial,I noted down the loops in her arguments, her lies and demonstrated her inconsistencies in her speech to the judge. The judge was very attentive and I saw him nodding looking at me. I felt very satisfied how I defended myself.I've proven to myself that I'm capable to do what I like: be a lawyer. Maria
it sounds a little nerve wrecking but it looks like it might just go ur way...even through all the waiting u had to do, waiting for the verdict is gonna be the hardest part....i hope it comes out ur way....congrats on making the defendent look like an idiot!...i know thats not the right terms but watever, i'm not a laywer lol Later,
Sounds like our standard system. If you are going into law may I suggest a few English courses first.....lol !!
What's the difference between a dead lawyer and a dead dog on the road? ----> There are skid marks in front of the dog. What's that: 100 lawyers up to their necks in sand? -----> Not enough sand. Why don't sharks attack lawyers? ------> Professional courtesy. How do you tell if a lawyer is lying? ------> His lips move. - Still want to be a lawyer????
Here is another one: "The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse is that you cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal", Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians. It creates a hostile work environment." - Still interested in the legal profession?
I have a moot court today. I go to law school at Western in my 1st year. I'm defending a guy who got caught with half a joint of marijauna. I have to argue his s. 7 right under the Charter (security of the person in particular) is violated because there is a risk he can go to jail for such a small amount. It's a lot of fun. I am going into criminal law for sure b/c it is the most interesting and I like going to court...it's like highschool acting class all over again. Good luck on your case...
Ya agree with you... criminal law or business law deal with highly interesting cases and they pay off. Good luck on prepping ur case too. Maria
dont some of the cases take years to resolve though? id imagine business law cases would take quite some time, with all these delay's that poeple can bring up
Sure, some cases take long to resolve...but the lawyer would definitely NOT be complaining if he was getting paid the whole time. Sometimes lawyers get disbarred for deliberately extended cases through various tactics. Biz law is not my thing, too many contracts which I think is really boring. I'm taking a tour of some major litigation firms in T.O. on Friday through my school so maybe that will change my perception. I just finished my case...all that work/preparing for 15 minutes of presenting. It was a lot of fun despite all the work!
