porsche 930, the Ferraris are like a land yacht especially the BB for turning radius, technically my 2 Jeeps are the tightest but they don't count.

basically what im trying to find out is this

why do many german cars have such a good radius
and american and japanese cars can't compare

I dont know to much about the internal mechanics of a car
so this question might be stupid

I know money has alot to do with it
but i have seen cars even in the same price category
    with this prob

Now if you asked like that in the first place, I would have given a more serious response.

In my experience, the best turning radii have been on German cars, particularly Mercedes.

They always surprise me with how much they can turn, even the longer wheel based ones relative to American cars.

Recently though, a number of American SUVs have gotten rather respectable turning radii, considering their respective wheelbases.

My M3 turns pretty well, and the new Land Rover LR3 I got last weekend surprised the heck outta me, it turns on a dime compared to the old and much smaller Lexus RX300 I had.

I agree with Omar, I can't believe how tight a turning radius my wifes clk55 has. MUCH tighter than any other car I have. When she's driving and pulling into a parking space, I'm always thinking it's never going to make it. And damn if it does.

Best (tightest) : mom's Kia Picanto.

    Worst (largest): Dad's Evo.

Runner up for worst : my WRX.

The Lotus Elan turbo (also Dad's) falls somewhere between the Kia and the WRX.

We don't get the micro-cars here in the US, but, on a relative scale, my '89 Honda Civic 3-dr has a very tight turning radius IMO (and "land yacht" is too kind for a TR -- try "battleship" or "aircraft carrier" ;)).

I was surprised about the 328, too... going around a roundabout I had to sloooow down and go full lock to make it around the circle! I suppose it's aligned for high-speed stability.

    My Nova SS.

Step 1:Turn wheel full lock right.

Step 2:press gas pedal down halfway.

Step 3:Car pivots on RF wheel.

Step 4:Wait for enormous cloud of vaporized rubber to clear.

    Step 5:proceed in new direction.

    :D

Citroen Saxo VTS......makes a BMW mini look like a supertanker.....and the little saxo's faster! (0-60 under 7 secs and on to 130....and 40mpg!)......must be embarasing to drive a slower, cruder, less nimble, Impractical and far more expensive to buy and run SUV

It will rotate around its inner rear wheel. You can get dizzy in one.

    Worlds Worst anything Italian

    400 might top the list
