My ('89) T is getting the red battery light ON when driving. However, when parked up and engine running, the light goes out (regardless of high/low RPM). Could this be a faulty sender as opposed to alternator slippage ?
    Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Your battery may need replacing. When was the last time you put in a new one?

I've had the car for a couple of years, and have not replaced the battery supplied with car. I always turn the battery isolator switch OFF when parking up for more than 2 days.

I say go get yourself a new battery, they don't last forever.

Just had 2 RAC breakdown units arrive and diagnose. One of the vans carries brand new batteries for sale, so was naturally expecting the guy to find my cells pooped. They checked the charge when running and all is at normal rate. Their combined thoughts are leaning towards an intermittent regulator, but why that pops off only when in motion is curious.
Off to the shop Monday after the Sunday sprint.

Well since the battery checked out fine, then I think it's safe to say you need a rebuild on the alternator. But now that I think about it. Did they put a load on the battery when the engine was off? If not then what they were reading what the output of the alternantor.

This will be a good thread for you to read. http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95900

Yep - we had all electrical gizmos running for max load, reading was spot on. Am anticipating a rebuild or Denso unit, just to get rid of annoying light if nothing else. Thanks for heads up on the related thread.
