I would say this guy is trying to rip me off. What do you think?

I post an item on Ebay with a starting big of $75. I get a message from this guy who wants me to end the auction early and says he will buy it for $75. I respectfully decline saying I can not do that because it opens me up to potential fraud for obvious reasons. Keep in mind my listing has no even been on Ebay 24 hours yet. It still has 6 days left.

He replies with this nasty message...

"This has nothing to do with fraud, you said in the letter that you were
selling it for 75.00 and that is what I bid so that is the end, and I
am the only bidder so I will cancel the bid. You can not have it both
ways and I was doing you a favor. There can be no faud if you close the
bid and I pay you look up my record.. I am the best buyer you could
ever have. You can close anytime you want as long as
I pay you with a money order and this is rediculous, or I am going to
cancel this whole thing, and it is an insult to me."

Hmm, these guys are getting rather obnoxious these days. Sounds like he's giving you "the full court press" to see if you cave in and fall for the trap.

I think you can end an auction early to sell to the highest bidder. I've seen that before so I wouldn't be concerned about fraud. If you don't want to end it, then tell him so. If he wants out then let him out. It's really not a big deal.... esp. for such a small purchase.

If he gets too annoying, just place his user id on you block bidder list. That way you will never have him bid on any more of you auction. Folks like that are a bummer.

    LOL.

Actually closing the auction early and selling it off eBay is against eBay policy. And you are open to fraud since there is no legally binding contract between the seller and buyer outside eBay. Also, if he pays Paypal, chargebacks are easy to do unless you have proof of everything in regards to the shipping of the item.

Yeah.. that guy is a jerk off. You can always end an auction by selling to the current high bidder.

I have had people contact me about making a deal. I send them a PayPal invoice, or they will wire me money and upon clearing the funds, ill end the item and save the Ebay fees.

Ebay fees and Paypal fees are no joke. I average about $180 in fees per listing. Thats substantial.
