Another '85 QV WTF is this thread!

    I have had my car about 6 weeks now and I keep finding unusual little devices installed in the car by prior owners. The latest item was discovered while I was adjusting the pin switch under the handbrake lever since the warning light was staying on all the time. Picture #1 is the "device" as it presented itself to me when I unzipped the handbrake cover. As you can see, it is glued on to the side of the lever. It has a wire that disappears into the console. Picture #2 is a second wire that goes into the hollow part of the handbrake lever. Picture #3 is the "device" pulled off it's mounting place. Any ideas??? A bug? A detonator? Thanks guys.

    It appears to be a anti theft device, I had one installed in my 944 Turbo. If this switch was not depressed the car would not start when the key was turned. Hope this helps

    Hey Michael,

    Before you go any further, maybe you can "borrow" a bomb sniffing dog to go through your car...you got all kinds of weird stuff going on with that thing :)

    Thanks - It's apparently deactivated now since I have no problems starting the car without pressing it.

    Hank,

    Looks like a prior owner was really paranoid. On a different note, any chance of organizing all the Ventura county 3X8 guys for a group drive into Euro Sunday this weekend? I think I'll put a post in the SoCal forum for this.
