I have a Solstice on order that I will not buy. I gave the dealer a deposit at list price only (This dealer is not asking for the $4-$7K that all the other dealers I spoke with are asking for). My thinking is that I could auction off my place in line, as I ordered the car a month ago. The high bidder would pay me to take my place. The good thing is that until I get the call from the dealer to make the final decision on color and options, the new buyer could place their own order with the options they want.

    What do you think?

Tread lightly....I was in a similar situation when I worked at a chevy dealer last year when corvette C6's with power tops were at a premium a guy did just what you are talking about. But, the management refused to sell the car to the other guy. Your dealer and deposit are for YOU only. They are not transferrable unless the DEALER allows it. The dealer has the right to simply refund your deposit they do not have to honor your deal for another person. Just my two cents on seeing this first hand.

I called the dealer and he will be happy to transfer the order queue to a friend. I'm in a small town and the dealer has a small town, service attitude. Very nice crew there.

I would sell my spot in line if I had no intentions of keeping it. Especially if the dealer is allowing you to do it.

Peter in that case go for it!!! Kudos for checking first. I know from the dealers perspective that makes it all that much easier. :)

Pete, happens all the time on eBay, I don't see why not, although you may need to coordinate the deal on delivery day.

Cool replies! I will probably do this. If an FChatter wanted it, I'd do it W/O any profit.

So what's the story? You were very excited about the solstice a month ago -- is something new on the horizon?

Pontiac dealer across the street from my office. Looks nice in black.

Still says Pontiac on it, though.. The fad will die out and prices will drop. They have a few on the lot that havent moved. Im sure I could hook someone up if I called the GM over there.

I believe there' supposed to be a turbo or V6 possibly.

There's a limited edition Solstice V8 put out by some company which name eludes me. But I think it's alot extra $$$$ ontop of the original price tag. There's an economical V8 kit in the works by a dude known as V8 Archie. He sells V8 kits and turn keys for Fieros.

Dunno when his kit will be made available for sale, but seeing an LS1 in a Solstice is awesome.
