Rear tires dont last for crap on most of these cars. They're all soft, performance tires. Any comments on GT3 pricing? Like I said, they range from mid $80 to just over $100.
Do yourself a favor and please be sure to try a 355, a 1995 is very close in price to the 348 you are considering. The 1995 355 is similar to a 1995 993 ie. its ODB 1 so less problematic for omission tests and minor performance mods. The 348 and 355 are similar but if you are used to Porsche's the 348 will be much harder to live with then the 355. If you check out my webpage you will see I have owned a few of each
355 is a lot of car for the money, but 95 was their first year. I would never buy the first year of any car. I would purposely stay away from a 95 355.
I still think a 360 is a better choice. The 348 and F355 are not that far apart from each other compared to the 348 to 360 or even F355 to 360.
putting deposit down on 997 gt3 tomorrow at local dealership. say i will get 1st car they get. maybe early fall. i would like to sell my 348 at end of this summer. how do i list it here on fchat? thanks
Just out of curiosity, why wouldn't you go for a 550 or 575 Maranello? Seem like very comfortable daily drivers, still a Ferrari, plenty of horsepower, torque, comfort, and luggage space. It's been years since I've owned Porsches, but I think I'd buy a Chevy Z06 before I'd buy any Porsche today, if I was looking for a reliable daily driver that was comfortable, powerful, and did everything well. And if you have GT3 money, then why not the 575 Maranello?
never been a fan of front engine fcars. i want to lease a new car with warantee as more 'hassle free' so another used fcar not in the cards. z06 is probable just as good at half price but dont see myself in a vette. guess im little insecure that way!
A 575 is a lot more then a GT3, isnt it?? 575 is way over $100, no?? I thought GT3's were made 04-05. How are you on an order list (or are they going to make them available again??) Any opinions on a good price for an 04 or 05 GT3?
I have found 550's in the low 100's (and lower) but not 575s. Keep an eye on GT3 pricing as the latest examples going through highline auctions are getting cheaper all the time. With the 997 GT3 on the way the 996 car will suffer. I looked at this car before buying the TR it was very nice and drove well: http://jim-ellis.porschedealer.com/preowned_cars/info.php?inventoryid=212695 As a side note the personel at Jim Ellis have always been great to deal with and it is my understanding that the car can be bought for much less than the posted price...
The 04-05 GT3 were based on the 996. A few weeks ago Porsche announced the 997 GT3. You can see it here: http://www.porsche.com/all/transitional/usa/dialog/newsletter/html/gt3/default.html
Hey Kevin, I agree with you there and I forgot that money was not a big part of the selection criteria.
So Porsche will make another GT3 model year. And that will kill the 04 05 values im sure, like you said. Did they disclose an MSRP?
usa dealers not sure of msrp yet. will probably list between $105 and 110k. i am 1st allocation from my dealer which should be sometime in Fall 06.
Which means it will debut as a 2007 model. Hmm.. Only color I would get is a white one. Paul Miller in NJ has an 05 white with 2k miles (pre owned) asking $99,000 Thats insane. Maybe you can shed some light..everyone ive seen for sale doesnt have a "cage" behind the front seats except this white one Paul Miller has. Whats up with that?!
Looks to be the "factory" roll hoop (by the sticker). I believe looking at the option codes this was dealer installed. BTW, white is a very tough sell in a Porsche...most dealers will tell you they'll take any color but white.
I have memory burn of the white one I drove behind. Porsche also made that track video of a white one. I dont care for Silver (everyone has silver). Black is my second choice. The Reds, Yellows and Blues dont do it for me. Im a patient car buyer..
