I'm looking at a house this week with two friends of mine. We're students at Manhattan College and we want to live off campus next year. The place we're looking at is a duplex home up here in the Bronx. Since I've never done anything like this before, I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on things I should ask about/look for. I want to make sure my visit to the home isn't wasted, and I obviously want to be well-informed about the place, since I might be living there in a few months. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may offer. -Will

Are you planning to buy? rent? purchase with the two friends? If buy, how long do you plan to keep the home? Need more info...

edit: quartermaster beat me to the rent/buy question...

Indeed. But only if you run into an agent who is easily messed with and asking for it to be done so! And especially if the agent's name is Glenn:D

Yes, ask John about it. He is a child genius with an IQ of 200. He will tell you how to invest your money, the whole time working from his rented apartment with 2 other male roommates LOL

Trust me, he is hyper-successful! And apparently knows tons about Ferraris too!

No, I won't tell anyone how to invest their money. I invest for people.
Glenn, I am single and 24. I particularly enjoy the bachelor lifestyle and not living alone. I happen to enjoy the company of one of my best friends as well as my closest cousin.
Your opinion compadre! I simply do what I do, you can take from it what you will. I can't imagine someone of your age still engaging in such childish behavior but at least it makes for some great entertainment! Keep on truckin'!

You seem to be an expert on many subjects. I would be interested in some first hand knowledge on how to invest. Someday I too would like to live with my cousin and drive an old Infiniti.

If you would like to see how to get a start trading currency I suggest you read the several threads I have posted on the subject. If you go back to the most recent thread that you yourself posted in(without explanation...STILL), you can look at the first post in that thread for links going back to each thread I started. It is a series that documents the time from my last semester in college learning how to trade all the way up until now. It has helped many people here gain some insight on how to develop various trading strategies. Despite you being what you are, still FEEL FREE to soak up any knowledge on the subject from those threads. I posted them here to help people, even you.
I bought it brand new off of the showroom floor 15 months ago! You are right, it must be sad that only 6 months out of college I could buy a car that is almost $40k, all off of daytrading.

Now, stop hijaking this guy's thread here. If you want to continue we already have a thread going(that you have failed to respond to in quite some time).

I left your daytrading thread alone after regretting posting in it at all. I ignored your PMs because I simply did not want to pick at a scab. I commented in your realtor thread because frankly, you were wrong. Nonetheless, I left that thread too because it began a quick implosion.

And now you called me out again in this thread. Clearly I hit a nerve because you are spilling out factoids about your life as if it is necessary for you to justify your lifestyle to me.

You can do your usual line by line post dissection if you wish. If you keep calling me out, I will keep reponding. If you let it die, I will let it go.

Honestly? Having the ability to do that after trading for such a short amount of time feels pretty damn good!
You want to be a little more redundant next time?

Correction. It is because you didn't want to explain yourself. If you recall I ever so nicely INVITED you to participate further in the thread. I encourage people to ask questions in there and make comments. There have been spats in those threads before, but they always turned out to be educational. You, however, only posted out of malice. Which, to me, is pretty lame.
If you didn't see the humor in that thread, that is a shame. You only got so miffed because you yourself are involved with real estate and somehow took personal offense. Oh well!
Or because you didn't want to see that your assertions were being summarily shot down?
No, I simply made another JOKE that referenced the other thread. Again, if that hurts your feelings, oh well!

I take no issue with correcting mischaracterizations and incorrect statements.
I will. Why? Because unlike you I actually address each point!
    LOL, likely not...

You definitely need to ask if the building has had any recent water damage. Make sure you check for leaking faucets, running toilets, etc...

Is there on-site laundry? How close is the nearest corner store? Is the place regularly swept for bugs? Ask about the neighbors. How old they are, what they do, etc...

Sorry your thread got hijacked with such petty stuff!

Be careful in the Bronx. Its very expensive even in the bad parts. There are lot of bad parts. Riverdale is nice but pricy im sure.
