    I am trying to find a camcorder that allows me to record directly avi / wmv files without the need to plug into a capture card, and convert from mini dv ect ect ..

    Does such a camera exist? I have read through alot of tutorials and googled quite a bit, but have not found one that fits. I figured there MUST be a camera that does this as video phones can record in these formats i think. Just that the resolution suck.

    i have the older version, the new one JUST came out and is available at best Buy, etc.

    Samsung Sportscam. Video quality is good (not HDTV mind you) and also comes with lipstick cam so you can also use it to record Xtreme sports... like track driving :)

    I think Samsung just recently announced some new models of their solid state "sports" camera, with improved video quality.
