Yup. I have mine registered with these guys. Have used them for years and never had an issue. Click Here For Dotster

***Editted because KORR's life has been negatively impacted and we don't ever want to see that happen again.

Not sure if you were looking for where to register or if you wanted instructions on an aspect. If the latter, basically, whatever registrar you use, you search for the name, if available, you add to your shopping cart and go thru a check out process like you were buying any other good or service online. Pretty simple really. After you purchase, you will have to set the nameservers. This way the DNS around the world will know where to point a person when they type your url into the browser. You get the nameservers from your host (where ever you have a server for the data). Many registrars like dotster also run hosting programs. You can register the domain w/out nameservers or a place to put the website. You can always move and change things, so don't worry about that stuff until you have the name you want.

Cool your jets. How'd I know that was coming from someone. It certainly has a negative effect on you if you go thru an affiliate link instead of direct url.

If you register an unregistered name, the most you should pay is about $15 /year. Yahoo offers domains that I was looking at the other day and the rate was 2.99 to register for a year, but you had to buy their hosting package, so there's always a catch if you get a big discount.

If you are buying an already registered name, then the sky is the limit. I've seen them go for big money. I think I saw some commentary on sex.com in a thread last week in the million $ range.

Don't go near that domain---people have been almost killed because of it. Huge scandal revolves around sex dot com.

I use godaddy.com. They are cheap, good service, etc, etc. They also have good additional services like domain parking, SSL certs, and such.

When I searched for HobbyDirect.COM, it took me to Domains.com for a purchase. The price was $600. I paid for it in 5 minutes. When I searched for Performancedevices.com four years ago, it was not taken, so I registered it through my ISP for $15 a year (I believe was the cost).
