http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_complex Napoleon complex In the fields of psychology and psychoanalysis, Napoleon complex (or Napoleon syndrome) is a colloquial term used to describe a type of inferiority complex suffered by people who are short. The term is also used more generally to describe people who are driven by a perceived handicap to overcompensate in other aspects of their lives. Alfred Adler pioneered the psychological work on inferiority complexes, and used Napoléon Bonaparte as an example of someone who he thought was driven to extremes by a psychological need to compensate for what he saw as a handicap: his small stature (though in actuality, Napoleon's particular shortness is a myth; he was in fact slightly over 168 cm, or 5 ft 6 in, quite average for a person of his day). Typically people with this complex will compensate in many ways, reaching beyond their personal performance. A person with a Napoleon Complex may set pictures in their home to lower levels and make other such accommodations which will enable them to feel taller in their surroundings. Compensatory behavior exhibited by those with a Napoleon complex may also include being overly aggressive or argumentative and a need to over-achieve, which all serve to give the person a sense of greater self worth.
You ever see some ugly broad wearing a button that says "I like me!" and/or "I'm OK!" or somesuch? Well, there ya go. Overcompensation for being the undesirable subject of scorn and ridicule. I've got news for those types: The proclamations don't work! You're going to die homeless, penniless, and 30 pounds overweight. I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough, and Doggone It, People Like Me! I suggest we keep the thead on topic. I suspect our troll may return if the thead doesn't fade. By the way, which of the houses in those fly-over shots was his? Is the Lambo or NSX in the driveway? Art S.
I was swarmed by posers the other day, attacking me on an off topic. They feel they own the site through the supposed clout of "number of posts," rather than owning the cars. In their eyes, this grants them the right to be outrageously snide, crass and hostile, which was backed by the moderators, who actually joined the frey. I have to say that in fifteen years of driving these cars and attending shows, I've never had a negative experience that comes close to the kind of malicious cowardice condoned on this site. It's an offense to the marque, which stands for automotive excellence, inherently honoring the excellence we as owners, bring to all other fields of human endeavor. The site owners need to monitor and enforce a web etiquette that reflects our stature, and doesn't embarrass the company.
I don't see how this has anything to do with this thread. You may want to take your complaints back to OOT.
slm: to see the relevance, read every other post on this thread. That should clear it up. Whether you're on Lamboforums.com or here, you'll see the owners are friendly, the wannabes are not. Lamboforums is a very well laid out, professional site. If you've got questions, you'll find answers, minus the hate-laced sarcasm.
You're a piece of work. in the first post on the other thread you are refering to you bellitle someone (a neighbor) whose "house is worth less than your car". So what. besides according to you're profile your car is an NSX, so if it's true you must live in some neighbor hood. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=98677 those in glass houses....
Which exotic cars have you driven in your 15 years? Just curious. Never mind. Checked out your profile. You are driving a 15 year old NSX. Carry on.
5 years NSX, 4 years Countach QV Carb, 4 years Lotus Esprit over the last fifteen. Next month, Gallardo or 360. Keep in mind we were off-topic, posting criticism of a madman who killed a boy for walking across his lawn (the thread was then split off). I shared a similar encounter with an unstable individual that could easily have become violent--doesn't justify all the ensuing nonsense. When new prospects walk into the dealer, do you attack them? No civil discipline justifies it. Lamboforums doesn't do this to people. So I'm dealing with the real owners privately now.
So lets get this straight. from prior posts, you don't like posers or liers... from you profile and your post you drive a 1991 NSX (15 y/o)... And your car is worth more than your neighbors house.... Ref: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=135662330&postcount=1 Where do you live? That must be some neighborhood. Oh, and you don't like F-Chat, but love lamboforum. why are you here?
Here's the bottom line. This guy's the ultimate poseur. No education and blows smoke about being a philosopher. Has elitist attitude against his neighbors. Has owned some moderately costly cars and seems to get a real sense of power from these penis extenders. Makes the comical claim he owned the world's fastest Lambo. On several posts (not worth looking up) refers to himself as an "owner" although I can find no evidence he indeed has a Ferrari. All this points toward a young man with a true inferiority complex which has lead him to create a world where he is "important" despite no demonstrable skills worth hiring. He stumbles onto this forum thinking that he can impress us with his self-ordained importance (as he may be able to do elsewhere), only to find the people here better educated and financially more secure, not to mention emotionally more secure! Mr. Springer, you just aren't fooling anyone here! Go away.
Uro, Why are you chasing him away? He just came back. Don't you want to learn any more brilliant D&D wisdom? I was looking forward to dazzling stories of 200mph runs in the Lambo and NSX... I was hoping to get theories of the Malibu Enzo crash... There was so much more that we could have done... Oh well. I guess he'll have to go play with Alan Lambo. Art S.
Please, please don't buy the Ferrari. Get the Lambo, you really will fit in with those people better.
