Hey guys, Its been a while, but I am the one with the 65 mustang who got everyone together for the Georgia Tech autoshow. Just wanted to let you know that we got Franco Cimatti (head of design at ferrari) to be the key note speaker this year. Therefore, theme of the show this year will be...yes...Ferrari!!! For those of you who don't know, we had Huibert Meiss last year, who designed the chassis for the Ford GT, and he even brought over an example of the car. So, the show will be April 1st this next year. I know its far off, but set that date aside on your calendars. ~Chris dos Santos
One of the for sale sections on one of the stang forums, coral, vintage mustangs, mustangs and more, stangnet etc... forgot which , but it was about a month and a half ago.
Work in progress as we speak. I met you early this year at Giovannis and we talked about stangs and that I was procuring one. You mentioned a fanatic in the area. I believe I gave you a ride in my 355 as well. JD
The web site for the 2006 Georgia Tech Auto Show is: www.GaTechAutoShow.com The date is Saturday, April 1st, 2006 beginning at 10am It was GREAT to see all the red cars there last year....even in the snow. And I absolutely promise that it wont snow this year, no foolin' !! Our guest speaker will be Franco Cimatti who got his undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech in 1981. He is the "concept engineering manager" at Ferrari Auto, SpA in Maranello, Italy. He is in charge of all new car platform design in the road car division of Ferrari: as he says in his words, the blank sheet of paper part of the process. He has most recently been working on the Super Enzo project. Franco will be traveling with his wife from Italy and will speak on his career and the challenges of designing a modern supercar at ~2pm in the Tannenbaum Auditorium which is next to the parking lot where the cars will be shown. Here is a web site mentioning Franco Cimatti's recent work We will be holding some spaces for itallian cars that are not owned by Georgia Tech Alumni, so register on the website and put ferrarichat.com in the comment section. We do expect things to fill up much more quickly than last year due to the good weather I have promised, so please register on-line early. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Some of you guys will get to see your cars on the website when you go to the History page, since the video I shot is on the site. We will meet up again for the show this year. Hopefully it won't snow this time! I will get details together in march about a meeting place, but I think that Perimeter Mall worked well last time. Lets get a BIG group coming! See you guys soon...
Sterling... I spoke with Charlie Willis earlier this afternoon - he told me you referred him to us [FML]... Thank you.
Just wanted to remind you guys about the show coming up. If anyone knows of a way to get ahold of the Lotus/Lambo guys, I'd appreciate it. I have Lucas' email (white S4 esprit), but I don't know how to get ahold of any of the one guys. If you could pass the word along, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks! http://www.gatechautoshow.com/
I should be able to make it this year. Last year i was doing some mods but the mods are all completed and i had the car serviced about 3 weeks ago so i should be all set. I would love to bring something this year and meet everyone. A friend of mine from Blueridge just bought a lambo as well. Maybe Me,him, and A.J could meet up and get some lambo's in there with you guys. It would be cool to meet some people from the board.
Jeff, nice to hear from you again. It's been a while. Ok guys... We are going to meet at Perimeter Mall again, Saturday April 1st, at 9:30. They are letting entrants in at 10:00, and the show starts at 11. So if we get there around 10-10:30 we'll be fine. For directions, basically, if you get off at the Ashford-Dunwoody exit on 285, go towards Perimeter mall (outside the perimeter). Make your first left, which is between the Home Depot Expo, and the Mall. We will gather at the corner parking lot right there, just like we did last year. I will be there around 9:15, a bit early, so you will see me there in a white E36 M3. Let us hope for better weather this year!!!
Don't forget that 3/29 is the deadline for registering. I hope to be riding down from the perimeter with a lot of Ferraris and other exciting cars.
The show ends pretty early, and they will mail the trophies out to you if you don't stay for the awards ceremony, so yeah, it will be a good opportunity for you guys to go for a drive. Please sign up!
Snow?? I hope not!! I'll be there with the Gatorrari, for sure. (I like any other school that also dislikes UGA and FSU.....)
