Well, it sure sounded to me in the last sentence of your last post on the first page of this thread like you were debating the fact that it wasn't.
Umm, I have different post settings, which post in particular? If you are talking about this...I clearly said I believe it is the latter, which woud imply I thought it is a viperfish. To me your post looked as if you thought it was not a deep water fish, due to the difficultly in taking its image. I stated 'it is,' as it is a deep water fish, most notably a dragon/viperfish. If you took the time to see the posted links on dragon/viper fishes, you would see some have snares, so I made the comment about the snare most likely being cropped.
I did look at the links. This has obviously all been a simple misunderstanding. Suffice to say we both agree the second picture on the first page is NOT an Angler Fish.
I appreciate you guys going through great trouble to find out the name of the fish for me . Always was interested in sea life. I just hope those things dont swim to close to NY beaches .
