Three more high resolution photos of the incredible 250 TR engine... http://www.***************.com/images/large/128-17.jpg http://www.***************.com/images/large/128-18.jpg http://www.***************.com/images/large/128-28.jpg
Out of curiosity, in the close up photo of the ex Pappalardo TR's cylinder heads, why does it have coil springs? I thought the TR's had hairpin type springs. Was this a "special" engine from the Factory, or was it a modification for vintage racing reliability? It has 16 cam cover studs like it should (the GTO Type 168's had 14 studs and coil springs). Just curious.
It does have coil springs for the valves as does the earlier (TR58). I believe that it was the tipo 128D motors which had the hairpin valve springs. The TR59/60s had many trick parts and a lot of them were made from magnesium. If an owner is very lucky there will still be tech inspection stamps from the Automobile Club du Oest on the race parts.
