Waiting
Perhaps I should have started the thread more than 30 seconds before leaving the house. I saw Black Hawk Down and Two for the Money Two for the Money was a little Boiler Room-ish {nothing wrong with that} and a little Devils Advocate. Black Hawk Down p***** me off! God! After about an hour in I was totally p***** off and thought why are you watching this? G** damn it turn it off. One scene after another I was squirming and growing more unimpressed. In the end I'm not happy I watched the whole thing. It wouldn't have been nearly as horrible if it wasn't based on a true story. When it comes to war movies I'll stay with pre 1900's titles.
75% chick flick, but for those that like love stories Brokeback Mountain is good. Not all of the great press is because they're trying to push a gay agenda, it really is a decent movie. Maybe 5 minutes total of the movie were difficult for me to stomach and I'm mostly an accepting guy. Unfortunately those 5 minutes might ruin the entire movie for the less tolerant.
I liked it - if you can relate to being lonely in a crowded place I think that is a large part of it. Black Hawk Down is awesome. There aren't too many war movies made before 1900!
Third that, was great! A lot more sexual innuendos than I had expected from Wallace and Gromit, but I don't think kids would get them, so it is good for the family And the bunnies are adorable.
Primer. Finally a movie about smart people who do really smart things - and still end up with problems. The script is tighter than a duck's back side, and that's water tight. You wont believe the credits - it was made on NO money by the guy, his friends and his family. Sound effects? He used his moms George Forman grill. Couldnt get an actress to play the wife? His sister jumped in. Knocked my socks off. Hope you like it too.
I meant the whole "based on a true story" thing. The movie was shot and produced well enough but the story itself really upset me.
I meant war movies that have wars in them that were fought before the last few wars like the war we're having now, but not those kinds of wars. Clear now? The time of Cesar/ Achilles etc.
Mark, where did you find this? I thought my neighbourhood was well-stocked, but that may not be the case. Still looking around...
Any luck finding it? I got it via netflix and watched it this past weekend. Fantastic movie Any other good ones out? I'm digging up old movie threads trying to find something interesting to watch.
Do NOT see the new Sense and Sensibility. "Oh, it has Kiera Knightley" you might say, and concede to watch it with your significant other. But it is insanely BORING!! Even my wife was bored. We saw Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939) the other day, and that was a great, straightforward movie with a good Jimmy Stewart performance.
Lord of War Collateral City of God Motorcycle Diaries Oceans 12 Batman Begins (A good one, I swear!) Layer Cake A History of Violence Crash I could name a ton.
The current issue of the Southwest Airlines magazine has a Top 30 comedies list. I had seen all but 5 and want to go back and watch those. Most of the ones I hadn't seen are before 1970. Anyone have the actual list? I might look later online.
Nope, still looking. We no have Netflix... I watched The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy recently. Loved those.
