Got a quick question: Whilst R&R-ing my 79 308GTB engine mounts, I attempted to raise the engine 1-1/2 to 2" in an effort to clear the mounts and remove them from the bracket. I heard I "crack" sould from the exhaust system. My real concern is putting undue stress on the cv-axles by raising it that high, as I didn't uncouple them, leaving them in place. I found that if you only raise it 1/2" you can get to the mount brackets and undo the 4-nuts. It's a job, but it can be done! Appreciate you comments. Thank you, Chris.
Start her up & find out!!! Back in Ferrarichat with ever-helpful advice, Don Seriously, it could have been something cracking, or it could have just been something like a donut gasket letting go of its set of the last 30 years as the spring-loaded bolts absorbed the rotation of an exhaust joint.
