I have a Dell which I bought about 2-3 years back. It came with Roxio CD Creator which always was great. After Windows updated over a year ago with Service Pack II i think it was, I cant burn CD's of any kind. Anyone else had this problem? Im thinking of just getting a new drive altogether that can burn CDs,DVDs, etc... and that should come w/ new software.

Or is there any site I could just D/load a newer burning software like C/net?

    Please help a brother out!

    Thank you in advance

F*** Roxio... They have patches you can download to update and fix old software errors. So i download the patch after it askes me where I got my software (bulk from a system purchase) and what version i have.

After it downloads, it won't run because the old version I have wasnt purchased seperately.

What a bunch of A-Holes... Ill never buy their crap again.

Anyone know where I can download another data cd burner so i can verify that its the software and not the drive thats messed up. Im not paying Roxio $69 only to find out the drive is messed up.

Actually, not a bunch of a-holes. Be more specific with your system, with your version of Roxio etc, and better help can be provided.

I've had trouble with Roxio and XP in the past, so I switched to Nero Burning ROM and it's been all smiles ever since. Can't go wrong with Nero. Give it a shot.

Roxio is vastly inferior to anything from Nero. I've used both and never been happy with Roxio/Adaptec and been nothing but happy with Nero.

This is strange. I used to use Nero without a single problem whatsoever. Now I've had to switch to Roxio just so I can get away from making coasters.

Just did a clean install of Win XP Pro. I got a shady pirated version of Nero from the shop that sold me the OEM DVD-writer, so I decided to stay legal and scout around for truly free burning software instead.

Found this one (freeware, not shareware, so no worries) : http://www.cdburnerxp.se/

Seems to be working very well so far, with all the basic features functioning flawlessly.
